<p>Location: UC Medical Center</p> <p>Department: Inpatient Pharmacy</p> <p>Hours: Full-Time, 40 hours/weekly</p> <p>Shift: First Shift</p> <p>UC Health is hiring a full-time Supervisor of Clinical Pharmacy Services for the Inpatient Pharmacy at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center!</p> <p>The Supervisor of Clinical Pharmacy Services will work with the System Director or Acute Care and Infusion Services and Manager of Clinical Pharmacy Services to supervise the day-to-day clinical operations of the pharmacy, while assisting with the development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical/educational services within the pharmacy. This position will work with the System Director or Acute Care and Infusion Services, Manager of Clinical Pharmacy Service and other pharmacy leadership on policies and procedures, formulary maintenance and regulatory/accreditation (e.g., ASHP; TJC; state agencies).</p> <p>This position is the first of its kind and part of broader expansion of clinical pharmacy leadership as the clinical and medication reconciliation ranks continue to grow.</p> <p>About the University of Cincinnati Medical Center</p> <p>As part of the Clifton Campus of UC Health, Greater Cincinnati's academic health system, University of Cincinnati Medical Center has served Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky for nearly 200 years. Performs treatments, administers medication or operates equipment safely. </li><li>Recognizes and responds to sign/symptoms of abuse or neglect. </li></ul> <p>Formulary development activities</p> <ul> <li>Coordination of agendas, workups, adverse reaction analysis with the Director/Manager, for the management of the Medication Use Committee. Work with the pharmacy staff in the implementation of DPD decisions. </li><li>Participate in formulary system management and implement appropriate in-service education and procedures for compliance by working with pharmacy, nursing and medical staffs. </li><li>Participate and provide feedback to the UC Health Drug Policy Development Committee and to appropriate subcommittees of the DPD (e.g., Medication Safety). </li><li>Assist with identification and development of strategies for cost containment by working with pharmacy, nursing, medical staffs and DPD Specialist. </li></ul> <p>Clinical/decentralized pharmacist functions</p> <ul> <li>Participate in patient care rounds, provide pharmaceutical care to patients, develop/maintain skills in a specialty area. </li><li>Assist the Manager Pharmacist with providing oversight/drug information/patient consultations for patients on service and to decentralized staff. </li></ul> <p>Education and Research</p> <ul> <li>Work with the other clinical leaders within UC Health Pharmacy Services to coordinate/develop/deliver education and competency testing for pharmacy staff. </li><li>Provide in-service education to nurses and physicians. </li><li>Coordinate/develop/provide oversight for undergraduate and graduate pharmacy students doing rotations with the hospital. </li><li>Serve as an advisor and/or preceptor for pharmacy students and residents; assist with residency program development. </li><li>Develop and participate in research activities in one's areas of expertise. </li></ul> <p>Human Resources</p> <ul> <li> <p>Supervise and coordinate human resource activities within the area of responsibility. This includes the following activities:</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in recruitment activities.</p> </li><li> <p>Review applicant pool and request interview.</p> </li><li> <p>Create interview itinerary, collect feedback from interview panels and recommend for employment selected applicants.</p> </li><li> <p>Onboard, orient, train/oversee training and develop employees.</p> </li><li> <p>Evaluate employee performance.</p> </li></ul> <p>Other activities</p> <ul> <li>Develop strategy/objectives/implementation/evaluation for existing and new clinical pharmacy services in coordination with UC Health pharmacy leadership team. </li><li>Assist management team with policies and procedures development/review. </li><li>Provide operations and staffing assistance when needed. </li></ul> <p>The Supervisor of Clinical Pharmacy Services helps manage the pharmacy medication budget through medication utilization review and education in collaboration with pharmacy staff, nurses and physicians. The Supervisor of Clinical Pharmacy Services follows the clinical literature for new therapies which will be used in patients in the hospitals. Identification of safety, efficacy and cost-savings improvements are part of the expectation of this position.</p> <p>EDUCATION:</p> <ul> <li>Minimum Required Degree: PharmD </li><li>Required: Completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY1 pharmacy residency, with preference for ASHP-accredited PGY2 and/or fellowship in specialty area </li></ul> <p>YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:</p> <p>Minimum Required: Same as required education above with 5 years of additional experience preferred. Leadership experience within internal or external organizations preferred.</p> <p>REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:</p> <p>Pharmacologic, therapeutic knowledge, analytical knowledge for comparative reviews and recommendations; excellent communication and problem resolution skills among people and programs; mentoring and teaching skills, and knowledge of post-doctoral residency education guidelines. Needs to have direct patient care skills and pharmacy computer skills and knowledge of pharmacy practice procedures and laws.</p> <p>WORK ENVIRONMENT</p> <p>While the position will work in a normal office environment, travel to the various hospitals and work locations may be necessary.
