<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Library Media Specialist</p> <p>(Shared position between North Street Elementary School/South Elementary School)</p> <p>Position Start Date: August 2025</p> <p>Application Closing Date: Open until filled</p> <p>Job Summary:</p> <p>Design a flexible program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with students; to motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for education in accordance with each student's ability; to establish good relationships with parents and other staff members.</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <p>Must have valid Connecticut Certification Number: 062 School Library Media Specialist.</p> <p>Performance Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Follow the scope and sequence of the instructional program as defined and approved by the Windsor Locks BOE. </li><li>Set and reinforce clear expectations and routines and manage the classroom and individual student behavior to maintain an advantageous learning environment. </li><li>Prepare lesson plans with clear objectives using appropriate techniques, and serving the needs of all learners in the classroom. </li><li>Demonstrate strong content knowledge of Library/Media. </li><li>Maintain accurate and complete records as required. </li><li>Conduct parent/teacher conferences. </li><li>Design and implement assessments that measure progress and use assessments to refine curriculum and instructional practices. </li><li>Collaborate with staff and colleagues in planning cross-curricular experiences. </li><li>Maintain ongoing communication with parents. </li><li>Assist in the selection of textbooks, equipment and other education materials. </li><li>Establish and maintain professional relationships. </li><li>Participate in professional learning by attending seminars and workshops to improve instructional practice and positively affect student achievement. </li><li>Demonstrate knowledge of teaching methods, materials and educational practices for secondary school teaching of Library/Media. </li><li>Create Makerspace opportunities that provide access to tools and equipment for creative and collaborative projects. </li><li>Collaborate with Library Media Aide in the distribution and collection of books and resources. </li><li>Other duties as assigned by supervisor. </li></ul> <p>Salary Range: $50,055 - $72,003 DOE, Competitive Benefits</p> <p>Application Procedures: Apply on-line</p> <p>Windsor Locks Public Schools does not discriminate in any employment practice on the basis of race, color, religious creed, sex, age, national origin, ancestry, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, disability, genetic information, or any other basis prohibited by Connecticut state and/or federal nondiscrimination law.
