Using available technologies and student success insights, the individual facilitates developmental academic advising that guides students through major and minor selection, degree planning, and course registration while also proactively and intentionally helping students make meaningful connections with both their academic programs and academic support resources. Through continuous training as well as partnerships within and beyond the School of Business, the Academic Success Advisor maintains a working knowledge of Business curricula, College policy, and campus resources. The individual communicates and meets regularly with their assigned caseload through appointments and drop-in hours. The Academic Success Advisor also leads targeted outreach and support campaigns to help students progress and complete. This individual plays a critical role creating environments where Business students form an advising relationship they can trust and an academic community in which they belong.</p> <p>Minimum Requirements</p> <p>Bachelor's degree required. At least one year of direct, paid, full-time experience in higher education academic advising or student support required. FERPA competence required. Experience with Banner and DegreeWorks, or another degree progress system, preferred but not required. Candidates with an equivalent combination of experience and/or education are encouraged to apply.</p> <p>Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities</p> <p>Must have experience with program planning and development, student advising, and working in a team environment. Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills are required. Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with outside agencies, the public, students, faculty, and staff. Must have knowledge of the basic principles and theories of student development and academic advising with proficiency in applying those theories in practice. Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills required. Ability to compile information, prepare reports and provide recommendations based on findings. Must be able to exercise sound judgment and discretion. Familiarity with widely used software is required; experience using Banner, Degree Works, and retention software is preferred.</p> <p>Additional Comments Regarding Position</p> <p>May be required to work some evenings/weekends to assist with student and/or School functions.</p> <p>Special Instructions to Applicants</p> <p>Please complete the application to include all current and previous work history and education.
