<p>Overview</p> <p>An RN provides and coordinates total nursing care for patients maintaining standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting and pursuant to the objectives and policies of the Nursing Care Division and Medical Center policies and procedures.</p> <p>Some of the skills performed</p> <ul> <li>Shift Report, hand off of patient information </li><li>Administration of blood products </li><li>IV Therapy </li><li>Medication administration </li><li>Venopuncture for blood collection </li><li>Physical Assessment and collecting of information </li><li>Rounding with physicians </li><li>Fingerstick blood sugars </li><li>Directing staff in patient care </li><li>Develop and update patient problem list </li><li>Initiates and coordinates resources in planning patient care </li><li>Insertion of foley catheters and Nasogastric tube </li><li>Transcribing physician orders </li><li>Dressing wounds and skin care </li><li>Care of patients with central lines including central line dressing change </li></ul> <p>Assisting physicians with procedure (ie. Central line and chest tube insertion)</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>EDUCATION:</p> <p>Graduation from an accredited school of nursing program</p> <p>LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:</p> <p>Licensure by the Alabama State Board of Nursing</p> <ul> <li>After orientation demonstrates and maintains skills and knowledge pertinent to the practice and </li></ul> <p>education of Registered Nurse.</p>
