<p>Overview</p> <p>This position is located in Groton, CT as part of D476 Construction Support Integration for 2nd shift. With the primary responsibility of pro-actively supporting COLUMBIA Class construction efforts in the Groton shipyard, the Construction Support Integration team provides direct support to the shipyard trades and support organizations to ensure the safe, efficient, and continuous completion of construction activities in a manner that results in delivery of ships consistent with the design intent.</p> <p>Groton COLUMBIA Construction Support Engineering is seeking highly motivated engineers to provide comprehensive technical oversight of construction activities. Engineers will interface with Design and Engineering, Ship's Management, Planning, Operations, Supervisor of Shipbuilding (SUPSHIP), and PMS397 to act as the primary engineering interface for the Groton shipyard as the COLUMBUA Waterfront engineering organization grows.</p> <p>With the growing work being done on second shift, D476 construction support is looking to expand its presence to provide timely, and technically accurate construction and program support to help drive construction on 2nd shift.</p> <p>Responsibilities will include the following:</p> <ul> <li>Provide engineering oversight and assistance to trade personnel </li><li>Evaluate emergent shipyard issues that arise during construction and rapidly develop technically acceptable resolutions </li><li>Interpret design, drawing, and specification requirements </li><li>Providing direction and evaluation to Groton trades via disposition of CNs and TIR UNSATs </li><li>Support final assembly, test, certification, and delivery activities for COLUMBIA Class </li><li>Provide surveillance of manufacturing, inspection, and testing of material in the Groton shipyard </li><li>Lead multidisciplinary engineering evaluations </li><li>Facilitate implementation of the design, lessons learned, and process improvements </li><li>Facilitate discipline specific knowledge transfer to the construction support engineering team </li><li>Coordinate engagement of design and engineering SMEs in the construction sequence </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Required:</p> <ul> <li>0-5 years of post-graduate engineering experience </li><li>Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Structural, Civil, Marine or Electrical </li><li>Ability to obtain a DOD Secret security clearance or higher is required </li></ul> <p>Preferred:</p> <ul> <li>Prior deck plate construction experience is highly desirable </li><li>Prior discipline specific (structural, mechanical, piping or ventilation) engineering experience </li><li>Familiarity with Electronic Desktop (7G, Work Orders, ELCADD, ERS, etc.) </li><li>Familiarity with Team Center (CR/CN experience) </li><li>Prior US Navy experience </li></ul> <p>Skills</p> <p>The candidate must possess strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
