<p>Applications to be submitted by July 21, 2025 Compensation Grade: P14 Compensation Details: Minimum: $53,357.00 - Maximum: $53,357.00 Annually Department (OPH) WADS - Wadsworth Center Job Description: Responsibilities Health Research, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Research Scientist to work within the Wadsworth Center, Division of Infectious Diseases. The Assistant Research Scientist will primarily assist with the routine detection and characterization of human influenza viruses. The incumbent will also assist with diagnostic, surveillance and reference testing of other human pathogenic viruses, assist with assay development and validation, and with general laboratory duties. This position will be part of a dynamic team serving the Wadsworth Center's mission as part of the New York State Department of Health's efforts to protect and promote the health of New York's citizens. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science, or medical technology and one year of research experience; OR a master's degree in a chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science, or medical technology. Degrees must be from an accredited institution. This position will require the incumbent will meet all Federal requirements for staff who perform clinical testing, including the educational requirements. At least two years of experience performing molecular methods, including at least one year handling infectious agents. Experience with virus culture methods. Experience developing and validating real-time PCR assays. Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office software, including for database management. Experience communicating scientific data to laboratory teammates and leadership. Conditions of Employment Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required. This position will require the incumbent will meet all Federal requirements for staff who perform clinical testing, including the educational requirements.
