<p>KANSAS CITY PUBLIC SCHOOLS</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>Job Title: Secondary Art Teacher</p> <p>Job Title Code: 00870</p> <p>Salary Grade: T01 -T06</p> <p>Department: Curriculum, Instruction and Professional Development</p> <p>Reports To: Building Principal</p> <p>FLSA Status: Exempt</p> <p>PURPOSE OF JOB:</p> <p>Teaches one or more subjects to students in secondary schools by performing the following duties.</p> <p>What You'll Be Doing: (Responsibilities)</p> <ul> <li>Instructs students by lecturing, demonstrating, and using audiovisual aids and other materials to supplement presentations. </li><li>Prepares course objectives and outline for course of study following curriculum guidelines or requirements of state and school. </li><li>Assigns lessons and corrects homework. </li><li>Administers tests to evaluate pupil progress, records results, and issues reports to inform parents of progress. </li><li>Keeps an attendance record. </li><li>Maintains discipline in classroom. </li><li>Meets with parents to discuss student progress and problems. </li><li>Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops. </li><li>Performs related duties such as sponsoring one or more activities or student organizations, assisting pupils in selecting course of study, and counseling student in adjustment and academic problems. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li><li></li></ul> <p>To Be Successful at This Job, You'll Need To: (Qualifications)</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Education from four-year college or university. </li><li>Missouri State Certification in Art (K-12). </li></ul> <p>In Order to #LevelUp in This Role, You'll Need: (Preferred Qualifications)</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrated experience and/or training in current techniques and skills in teaching secondary level students. </li><li>Teaching experience in urban schools. </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS:</p> <p>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
