<p>POSITION SUMMARY:</p> <p>This position serves as the subject matter expert and is responsible for managing all of the health and welfare plans, related federal and state leave programs, ensuring federal and state compliance and HR Benefits Policies and Procedures. The position will support Greater Waterbury Health Network client base on all levels of the organization and in the Human Resource department.</p> <p>EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:</p> <ul> <li>BS Degree in Human Resources, Business or related field. Equivalent experience will be considered. </li><li>MBA or MS Degree preferred. </li><li>Registered Employee Benefits Specialist or related designation preferred. </li><li>PHR or SHRM-CP preferred. </li></ul> <p>EXPERIENCE:</p> <ul> <li>Five (5) years of relevant experience in benefits and pension plan administration. </li><li>Experience in managing teams and working in a team environment. </li></ul> <p>COMPETENCIES:</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrated success with Project Management. </li><li>Proven competency of Federal and State laws, regulation and compliance issues in regard to compensation and benefits. </li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills. </li><li>Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. </li><li>Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. </li><li>Customer-centered. </li><li>Ability to function in a dynamic environment subject to change in strategy, policy and procedure. </li><li>Valid driver's license is required as travel between facilities is an essential function of the role. </li></ul> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Manages all benefits staff</p> </li><li> <p>Manages and oversees the implementation of health and welfare benefits programs.</p> </li><li> <p>Acts as key partner with third party consultants and program vendors.</p> </li><li> <p>Oversees annual plan audits, 5500 filings, federal and state compliance filings and employee communication for all related benefits plans.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborates with Benefit Specialists to design and set goals for the annual benefit enrollment.</p> </li><li> <p>Provides oversight for all benefit and leave administration including but not limited to COBRA, Workers Compensation, FMLA, Short term and long term disability and other related leave programs.</p> </li><li> <p>Partners with Benefits Team to design and execute employee communications related to any benefit updates and program changes.</p> </li><li> <p>Monitors all compliance activity related to GWHN defined benefit, defined contribution and employee savings plans.</p> </li><li> <p>Monitors the effectiveness benefits programs and recommends modifications to reduce costs and improve delivery.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepare annual benefits expense budget and manage benefits expenses.</p> </li></ol> <p>Disclaimer: Job descriptions are not intended, nor should they be construed to be, exhaustive lists of all responsibilities, skills, efforts or working conditions associated with the job.
