This role plays a vital part in ensuring the safety, functionality, and daily operations of our facility. We are looking for a motivated individual with hands-on experience in general maintenance, repairs, and facility upkeep who is ready to contribute to a mission-driven environment.</p> <p>Why work for DOC?</p> <ul> <li>Culture: DOC values and supports employees through numerous recognition programs, creating a sense of community, prioritizing internal promotional opportunities, clear communication, and professional development. </li><li>Growth: Professional growth is encouraged at DOC through numerous avenues. </li><li>Benefits: DOC offers a generous benefits package including; a defined benefit pension plan, health insurance that is also available post retirement, at least 10 paid holidays, sick and annual leave that rolls over from year to year, paid or time off accrued for hours worked over 40 per week, a deferred compensation plan, a flexible benefits plan, alternate work schedules etc. Alternative work schedules including 4/10's MAY be an available benefit for certain positions upon meeting the policy requirements. </li></ul> <p>Please visit our website by clicking here to learn more about DOC, our facilities, and our mission.</p> <p>Two years of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance; OR</p> <p>Completion of a two-year vocational technical program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering; OR</p> <p>Twelve semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses.The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found here.</p> <p>Job Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Performs minor repairs and maintenance on navigational locks, including replacing hydraulic hoses, inspecting components for wear, and ensuring proper operation to support safe and efficient facility functions. </li><li>Maintains and repairs a wide range of motorized equipment, conducting tasks such as tune-ups, troubleshooting mechanical issues, replacing or adjusting worn or damaged parts (carburetors, generators, alternators, starters, pumps, brake linings/pads, etc.), and performing limited disassembly of major components (engines, transmissions, final drives) to assess damage and determine required repairs. </li><li>Executes general building and facility repairs, including work on interiors, exteriors, furniture, fixtures, HVAC systems, and related mechanical components. Duties may involve plumbing, carpentry, electrical work, and other trades necessary to maintain a safe, functional, and well-operating correctional environment. </li></ul> <p>Position-Specific Details: </p> <p>Appointment Type: CLASSIFIED WAE</p> <ul> <li>This position is a 'when actually employed' (WAE) position without benefits.
