<p>Director of Career Connected Learning, Stockton</p> <p>At KIPP Public Schools Northern California, we are committed to empowering students-especially those from historically underserved communities-with the academic, technical, and leadership skills necessary to thrive in college, career, and life. We are seeking a Director of Career Connected Learning to join our founding team. The Director of Career Connected Learning will play a pivotal role in shaping the academic identity and future readiness of our students by designing innovative career pathways and establishing dual enrollment opportunities with local colleges and universities.</p> <p>This role will focus on designing and launching innovative career pathways, dual enrollment programming, and advisory curriculum that help students explore, identify, and prepare for postsecondary pathways - including college and career. You will be the lead architect of our career-connected learning strategy, working in close collaboration with external partners, school leaders, teachers, students, and families to create and implement meaningful, real-world learning experiences.</p> <p>The ideal candidate for this role has a deep passion for social justice and educational equity for all children, has significant experience working in/with schools and/or districts to design and implement career-connected learning opportunities for students, and is skilled at high-quality project design and project management. Additionally, this candidate must be competent at building and leveraging relationships with school, CBO, and business partners and in coaching for project success, as well as outstanding written and verbal communication skills. This person is drawn to working with teams of community, school, teacher, and student leaders to design and implement career-connected learning. They must have a demonstrated interest in serving students from historically marginalized communities that have been systematically underserved and be dedicated to doing whatever it takes to support our students to identify their careers of highest aspiration, aligned to their own passions and interests.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <p>Education:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree required. Master's degree preferred </li></ul> <p>Experience</p> <ul> <li> <p>Passion for and commitment to KIPP's mission and values</p> </li><li> <p>3+ years of full-time experience in education or a related field with a proven track record of designing and implementing career-connected learning in the TK-12 ecosystem</p> </li><li> <p>Understanding of concurrent enrollment systems, experience instructing or supporting Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs in California, and/or developing Individual Career and Academic Plans and providing career advising to students</p> </li><li> <p>Experience working across organizations to build relationships and partnerships, develop collaborative work products, and take responsibility for the outcomes</p> </li><li> <p>Track record of success partnering with community based organizations and Career Technical Education programs</p> </li><li> <p>Familiarity with Apprenticeship programs, CTE programs, and Military pathways</p> </li><li> <p>Experience managing projects and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders</p> </li></ul> <p>Knowledge/skills required:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Commitment to working with educationally underserved students and demonstrated sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of student populations</p> </li><li> <p>Strong working knowledge of student database systems and using data to drive decision making</p> </li><li> <p>Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work with a wide-range of people including external partners, teachers, counselors, parents, students, and administration teams</p> </li><li> <p>Positivity, optimism, and a solutions-oriented mindset</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to self-direct and prioritize among competing goals and to initiate process improvements</p> </li><li> <p>Goal-oriented, with strong initiative and creative problem-solving skills</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to use assets-based counseling and support for students in identifying their strengths, talents, and interests as they prepare for young adulthood</p> </li><li> <p>Outstanding written and oral communication skills</p> </li><li> <p>Extreme flexibility, strong work ethic, and an entrepreneurial spirit to accommodate joining a growing and constantly improving team</p> </li><li> <p>Strong working knowledge in all Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Suite</p> </li></ul> <p>Essential Functions and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Create and monitor dual enrollment strategy and programming</p> </li><li> <p>Develop and maintain dual enrollment partnerships with local colleges and universities</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinate enrollment, logistics, and student support systems to ensure equitable access to college-level coursework</p> </li><li> <p>Monitor students' academic progress and ensure alignment with graduation and college- and career-readiness goals</p> </li><li> <p>Design and implement career-connected learning programs</p> </li><li> <p>Build out the school's career-connected program of study</p> </li><li> <p>Cultivate and manage partnerships with higher education institutions, employers, nonprofits, and community-based organizations to expand learning and mentorship opportunities</p> </li><li> <p>Negotiate with partners towards delivering high-quality programming for our students and alumni</p> </li><li> <p>Develop work-based learning opportunities such as internships, job shadowing, guest speakers, and mentorships</p> </li><li> <p>Create comprehensive project plans to effectively execute all components of initiatives related to career-connected learning</p> </li><li> <p>Work with systems to promote equity in career-connected learning for students furthest from opportunity</p> </li><li> <p>Support school staff in building knowledge about and implementing current and emerging best practices for career-connected learning</p> </li><li> <p>Active participant in college and career partnership working groups</p> </li><li> <p>Student support</p> </li><li> <p>Design a schoolwide advisory framework that is centered around the school's mission for 9-12 grade that incorporates college readiness, career exploration, and life skills into the advisory curriculum</p> </li><li> <p>Develop grade-level benchmarks for advisory topics such as goal setting, academic planning, SEL, resume building, financial literacy, and post-secondary planning</p> </li><li> <p>Provide professional development and coaching for advisory teachers/facilitator</p> </li><li> <p>Provide advising and coaching services focused on career exploration and progressive pathway programs based on student needs, connecting them to hands-on opportunities that will support them to make a strong postsecondary matriculation decision</p> </li><li> <p>Guide students and families through the pathway selection and dual enrollment process through workshops, counseling, and ongoing communication</p> </li><li> <p>Track and analyze student data [career interests, desired postsecondary pathway, financial aid, internships, etc.] using the match data platforms</p> </li><li> <p>Leverage quantitative and qualitative data to proactively track and report on program outcomes, identify areas of success as needed to respond to those areas that need improvement</p> </li><li> <p>Classroom Instruction</p> </li><li> <p>(Year 1, 25-26) Teach a College & Career Readiness Seminar to each cohort, totaling ~5 hours of Classroom Instruction per week</p> </li><li> <p>(Year 2, 26-27) Teach a College & Career Readiness Seminar to each cohort, totaling ~10 hours of Classroom Instruction per week</p> </li></ul> <p>Physical, Mental, and Environmental Demands</p> <p>Physical: Ability to navigate office and school campuses, and hold meetings in different spaces. Traditionally, much of the day involves sitting. Ability to access and utilize technology. Occasional lifting/carrying of equipment 1-20 lbs.</p> <p>Mental: Stress of deadlines and normal work standards, ability to analyze problems and generate alternatives, work with interruptions, concentrate for long periods of time, read, calculate, perform routine math problems, memorize and recall objects and people.</p> <p>Environmental: Office environment subject to constant interruptions and distractions. KIPP adheres to health and safety guidelines as outlined by the CDC, CDE, and public health agencies' recommendations.</p> <p>Classification</p> <p>Full-time, exempt position. We offer a competitive salary as well as a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and transportation benefits.</p> <p>We benchmark annually against school districts and charter schools in the regions where we operate, to offer competitive salaries.
