<p>SUMMARY</p> <p>Our Instructors educate and train students to become industry leading welding professionals. This includes classroom instruction on welding related subject matter, in addition to hands-on training in multiple welding processes, all while using curriculum developed by the Institute. Students range from beginners to experienced industry professionals, all of whom are seeking to enhance their welding knowledge and skills.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <ul> <li>Provide classroom instruction of welding and welding related subjects as defined in course outlines. </li><li>Lead skill training instruction for all lab activities related to assigned courses. </li><li>Utilize visual aids and other training materials in lecture discussions. </li><li>Follow and implement all course outlines, demonstrations, and instructions. </li><li>Assist with updating curriculum, course materials and outlines as needed. </li><li>Know, follow, and enforce all Institute safety regulations. </li><li>Uphold Institute policies and the student handbook. </li><li>Maintain and enforce impeccable housekeeping in classrooms and lab areas. </li><li>Make daily booth rounds to work one-on-one with students, and provide coaching based on individual performance. </li><li>Provide live welding demonstrations to small groups of students and visitors. </li><li>Administer welder qualification tests and skill tests. </li><li>Conduct destructive and nondestructive testing as defined in course outlines. </li><li>Participate in campus tours to support recruitment of potential students. </li><li>Ability to work 2nd shift, with the ability to change shifts and schedule as assigned. </li><li>Conduct in-plant and specialized training as assigned. </li><li>Perform other duties as needed. </li></ul> <p>COMPETENCIES</p> <ul> <li>Thorough understanding of common welding process and general welding theory </li><li>Basic understanding of destructive and nondestructive testing </li><li>Excellent communication skills, verbal and written. Includes public speaking </li><li>Team player mentality, fostering a teamwork atmosphere </li><li>Excellent organizational skills </li></ul> <p>WORK ENVIRONMENT: The employee regularly works with other employees and clients in a classroom and laboratory setting.</p> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS</p> <ul> <li>Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis </li><li>Ability to stand for long periods of time </li><li>Ability to kneel and crouch for extended periods of time </li><li>Regular talking and hearing </li><li>Ability to see up close and have accurate depth perception </li></ul> <p>REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES</p> <ul> <li>Interested candidates must have a minimum of 3 years related practical work experience to be considered for the position </li><li>High School Diploma or GED </li><li>Experience in Blueprint Reading, Welding, Fabricating and/or Pipe Layout </li><li>Ability to use Microsoft Office tools and internet-based applications </li></ul> <p>DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES</p> <ul> <li>HIWT Program Graduate </li><li>AWS Certified Welding Inspector/Educator </li><li>Level I, II, or III ASNT NDT </li><li>Prior experience as a welding educator or trainer </li></ul> <p>SHIFT: First shift, with potential to move to 2nd shift based on business conditions.</p> <p>TRAVEL: This position may require up to 20% travel, with some overnight and weekends required.</p> <p>APPLICATION PROCESS:</p> <p>Qualified, interested applicants should apply online at www.welding.org .</p> <p>Hobart Institute of Welding Technology is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
