<p>Kansas City Public Schools</p> <p>Construction & Design Pathway Program Coordinator</p> <p>Job Title Code:</p> <p>Salary Grade: S634</p> <p>Department: Manual Career & Technical Center</p> <p>Reports To: Director of Manual Career & Technical Center</p> <p>FLSA Status: Exempt</p> <p>Date Prepared: 06/2025</p> <p>Position Summary:</p> <p>Manual Career & Technical Center (Manual Tech) is seeking a Construction & Design Pathway Program Coordinator to develop and oversee a new workforce development program aimed at preparing students for careers in the construction industry. Initially, the program will support student involvement in the 18th & Vine Parking Garage Project and will expand to create a sustainable pipeline into the construction sector upon graduation. This position is responsible for program development, industry partnerships, student recruitment, and ensuring alignment with workforce needs.</p> <p>What You'll Be Doing: (Responsibilities)</p> <ul> <li> <p>Program Development & Implementation:</p> </li><li> <p>Design and implement a comprehensive Construction & Design Pathway Program, integrating hands-on training and industry best practices.</p> </li><li> <p>Develop a structured curriculum that includes industry-recognized certifications and other Market Value Assets (e.g., OSHA-10, NCCER, Client Projects).</p> </li><li> <p>Establish pathways for job placement, apprenticeships, and internships with local construction firms, trade unions, and city-led projects.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure the program meets state and national standards for career and technical education (CTE).</p> </li><li> <p>Research and incorporate best practices and model program concepts.</p> </li><li> <p>Work with the CTE director to enhance the program by embedding internships and apprenticeships.</p> </li><li> <p>Student Recruitment & Engagement:</p> </li><li> <p>Develop and execute a recruitment strategy targeting high school students interested in careers in construction and related fields.</p> </li><li> <p>Conduct outreach events, presentations, and workshops to promote the program.</p> </li><li> <p>Monitor student progress and provide guidance to ensure successful completion of the program.</p> </li><li> <p>Track student progress and provide assistance and intervention when necessary.</p> </li><li> <p>Work with students and parents to ensure they have the resources needed to successfully participate and complete the program.</p> </li><li> <p>Industry & Community Partnerships:</p> </li><li> <p>Build and maintain strong relationships with construction firms, workforce development agencies, trade unions, and city officials.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate with Councilwoman Melissa Patterson Hazley and other stakeholders to integrate students into real-world construction projects.</p> </li><li> <p>Secure industry sponsorships and funding opportunities to support program growth and sustainability.</p> </li><li> <p>Work with an advisory board as determined by Councilwoman Melissa Patterson Hazley.</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinate field trips, client projects, and other extended learning opportunities.</p> </li><li> <p>Program Oversight & Compliance:</p> </li><li> <p>Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs), including student enrollment, completion rates, and job placements.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide formal quarterly progress reports to the City of Kansas City and Manual Tech leadership.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure compliance with all educational regulations and safety standards in construction training.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain a proactive log of all programmatic milestones and goals.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide weekly reports to keep key stakeholders informed about the program's progress.</p> </li><li> <p>Develop a budget and forecast future needs.</p> </li><li> <p>Other duties as assigned.</p> </li></ul> <p>To Be Successful at This Job, You'll Need To: (Qualifications)</p> <ul> <li>A Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Education, or a related field is required. </li><li>A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in workforce education, career and technical education (CTE), or the construction industry is required. </li><li>Must hold or be eligible to hold a Missouri Teacher Certificate. </li><li>Strong networking and partnership-building skills with industry leaders and stakeholders. </li><li>Experience in curriculum development and student career pathways. </li><li>Knowledge of apprenticeship programs, union training models, and labor market trends. </li><li>Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills. </li></ul> <p>In Order to #LevelUp in This Role, You'll Need: (Preferred Qualifications)</p> <ul> <li>A combination of the aforementioned education and experience. </li><li>Master's Degree in Construction Management, Education, or a related field. </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands: This job requires that the employee be able to: sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, use hands, fingers, reach with hands and fingers; bend, stoop, and lift objects of at least ten pounds. The job requires the employee occasionally to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Visual ability requires mono and color vision, close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.</p> <p>Terms of Employment: Length of work year: 12 months. This is a temporary position based on grant funding.</p> <p>Benefits: Health and Dental Insurance are provided.
