<p>Bostian Elementary Media Coordinator Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Collaborate, plan, and co-teach lessons to integrate research methods, instructional technology, interactive read-alouds, higher order thinking skills (strategy puzzles, gamification, breakouts, etc.) Examples: line graphs with Numbers app, coordinate plane stations with Dash robotics, Google Earth landform exploration, animal adaptations research, body systems stations, food chain coding with Scratch Jr. </li><li>Lead professional development. </li><li>Attend all PLC meetings. Follow up to provide support and resources. </li><li>Troubleshoot technology issues if needed when tech facilitator isn't at Bostian. Assist with deployment and collection. </li><li>Teach media classes on weekly enhancement schedule. Incorporate digital citizenship lessons on a quarterly basis. </li><li>Provide ongoing library collection development (weeding, researching new releases, purchasing). </li><li>Purchase and curate print and digital resources based on staff and student interests and needs. </li><li>Catalog and process new books to prepare them for checkout (protective coverings, labeling, etc.) </li><li>Manage Destiny digital book catalog and oversee the schoolwide book checkout process, including sending out overdue notices and handling fees for damaged or lost books. </li><li>Purchase NC Children's Book Award 12 nominated picture books each year and read aloud to students during media classes over the course of the school year. Voting is held online in April on https://nccba.blogspot.com/. </li><li>Plan, coordinate, and manage media center fundraising through two book fairs (or three if doing BOGO) each school year with a family shopping event after school from 3-5:00 at each fair. </li><li>Coordinate advertising, prizes, and attend all summer reading events if scheduled (Turn the Page Tuesdays). </li><li>Inventory all library books in May of each year. </li><li>Complete annual North Carolina Digital Learning and Media Inventory. </li><li>Organize and advertise Read Across America events each March (dress-up days, guest readers, bookmark contest). </li><li>Attend district media PLCs. </li></ul> <p>Administrator for School & District Sites & Subscriptions</p> <ul> <li>Parent Square (RSS) </li><li>LiveSchool (BES) </li><li>Bostian's Facebook and Instagram </li><li>Venus Control Suite for Digital Sign (BES) </li><li>Sho-Stick for slideshow at front entrance (BES) </li><li>IXL (BES) </li><li>Follett Destiny (RSS) </li></ul> <p>Other School-Based Roles & Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Teacher-Led Design Team member </li><li>Instructional Leadership Team </li><li>Collect photos from staff during special events using photo folder in Drive. Edit and check for permission to post on social media. </li><li>Take photos of all schoolwide events and post to Bostian's Facebook and Instagram. </li><li>Create slides and keep outdoor digital sign up-to-date. </li><li>Direct, record, and edit daily student-led school news show and upload to shared folder in Drive each afternoon for following day. </li><li>Yearbook Chairperson: Create yearbook due each April. Take pictures of all new students who arrive after yearbook pictures are taken. Edit these in Canva to match Strawbridge. Organize and advertise yearbook pre-sale. Give sales report to Gina for distribution. (Varsity Yearbooks, Carole Parrott). Organize yearbook cover contest for 4th-5th graders. </li><li>Create and display school events slideshow for TV at the school entrance. Update weekly. </li><li>Create, update, and share Bulldog Bark newsletter weekly on Parent Square. Update and send weekly. </li><li>Create graphics and schedule/post reminders for all upcoming events on Parent Square and social media. </li><li>Set up sound system and projector for movie night, awards ceremonies, monthly Bulldog Blast-Offs and Wonder Wednesdays. Play slideshows and music for Bulldog Blast-Offs and WW. </li><li>Change monthly point values in LiveSchool for CKH Leadworthy monthly traits. </li><li>5th Grade Moving Up Ceremony: Collect two baby photos through Dropbox from all families. Create slideshow with two baby photos and yearbook photo of all 5th graders. Play slideshow and music for 5th Grade Moving Up ceremony. </li><li>Take photos of Staff Members of the Month and Bulldogs of the Month and post on social media. </li><li>Advertise and collect entries for the annual RSS Holiday Ornament Contest and Read Across America Bookmark Contest. Organize voting, announcing of winners, certificates. </li><li>Test administrator for accommodated sites and make-ups during check-ins and EOGs. </li><li>Lead weekly enrichment groups (Book Clubs). </li><li>Monitor morning car riders from 7:00-7:15 daily. </li><li>Call car rider numbers from 2:30-2:45 daily. </li></ul>
