<p>About this Position:</p> <p>As Kalmbach Feeds and Kalmbach Nutritional Services (KNS) continue to grow, we are looking for passionate, hard-working, diplomatic, and detail-oriented team members that live our values to join our growing team. The Swine Research Finisher Manager will work in concert with Kalmbach Nutritional Services and the Swine Nutrition Team to implement and conduct live swine production studies at the Kalmbach Swine Research Finisher.</p> <p>Primary Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Provide day-to-day oversight for the Kalmbach Swine Research Finisher operations by managing and leading animal production, research activities, personnel, land, buildings, and equipment </li><li>Coordinate with the Swine Nutrition Team and Kalmbach Nutritional Services to conduct several live animal research trials per year and execute experimental treatments and methods per project protocols </li><li>Coordinate with the Feed Mill Operations Team to ensure experimental feed is properly manufactured and delivered per trial feeding budget </li><li>Supervise and participate in the daily husbandry needs for research animals including placement in facility, vaccine administration, treatment of sick animals, feeding, handling, and all other swine production and research needs </li><li>Manage and provide regular maintenance for the facility and equipment </li><li>Supervise and participate in the sample/data collection for research studies including weighing live animals and measuring feed intake, collecting blood, tissue, fecal or environmental samples outlined by the trial protocol </li><li>Execute standard operating procedures to ensure the facility and equipment are operating accordingly </li></ul> <p>The Right Candidate:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree required, degree in Animal Science, Agriculture, or related agricultural field preferred </li><li>Must be comfortable with handling animals up to 300 pounds in weight, demonstrated experience with applied swine research or commercial swine production preferred </li><li>An individual who is detail-oriented and self-motivated </li><li>Ability to maintain detailed records and resource management </li><li>Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more on a consecutive basis and work in dusty and noisy conditions </li><li>Ability to work weekend and/or evening hours to accommodate research needs </li><li>Ability to relocate near Vanlue, OH and possess a valid driver's license </li><li>Demonstrated experience in managing farm enterprises, personnel, and budgets preferred </li><li>Ability to work with various feeding and environmental technologies </li><li>Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Excel and Word) </li><li>Does not have regular contact with pigs outside of the Kalmbach Swine Research Finisher </li></ul> <p>About the Company:</p> <p>Kalmbach Feeds offers the highest quality nutritional products for livestock, poultry, and companion animals.
