<p>Special Education Teacher Job Description</p> <p>POSITION SUMMARY</p> <p>Under the direction of the school leader and special education director, the special education educator plans and provides for appropriate learning experiences for students with disabilities in accordance with a student's Individual Education Plan (IEP).</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Provide coordination for special education services, including developing IEPs and coordinating referrals to outside resources. </li><li>Accommodate the general education curriculum for students with disabilities based on various instructional techniques and technologies. </li><li>Maintain accurate and compliant student records and prepare documentation as required by law. </li><li>Hold the case conference committee meetings to assist in developing measurable goals, benchmarks, and objectives to meet student's needs. </li><li>Regularly monitor the implementation of the student's IEP and provide progress reports to the student and/or family. </li><li>Develop compliant and comprehensive transition plans </li><li>Communicate student's IEP accommodations to general education staff and administration. </li><li>Ensure any needed accommodations and modifications on district, statewide, and national assessments are implemented according to the student's IEP. </li><li>Other tasks as assigned by a supervisor. </li></ul> <p>POSITION QUALIFICATIONS</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree in Special Education; Licensed in special education and/or intense certification required </li><li>Experience using IIEP; preferred </li><li>Knowledge of Google Suite for education and Chromebooks; preferred </li><li>Experience using Powerschool, Schoology, and/or Edmentum; preferred </li><li>Demonstrates an understanding of federal, state, and local mandates governing the determination and delivery of special education services </li><li>Experience completing observations and reports about the learning behaviors of students </li><li>Must be able to pass a background check successfully </li></ul> <p>Teacher contract and benefits including health, dental, vision, life, 403(b) matching annuity, contribution to state pension fund</p>
