<p>Schedule:</p> <p>7-On/7-Off B week</p> <p>7:00 AM - 5:00 PM</p> <p>Training Schedule:</p> <p>Monday - Friday (40 hrs/wk)</p> <p>8:00 AM - 4:30 PM</p> <p>Department: Lab Automation Engineering - 504</p> <p>Primary Purpose:</p> <p>This entry level position is responsible for the installation, maintenance, service, and repair of automated liquid handling systems (ALHS) and their integrated components, and offers opportunities to develop the skills necessary to become an engineer. Liquid Handling Service Technicians perform corrective and preventive maintenance under the guidance of Automated Liquid Handling Service Engineers and/or Lab Automation Engineers.</p> <p>About ARUP:</p> <p>ARUP Laboratories is a national clinical and anatomic pathology reference laboratory and an enterprise of the University of Utah and its Department of Pathology. Consider joining our dynamic team.</p> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <p>Performs troubleshooting, corrective and preventive maintenance on automated liquid handling systems and their integrated components, as required by regulatory agencies and manufacturers recommendations.</p> <p>Basic understanding of automated liquid handling systems and their integrated components, including plate washers and plate readers.</p> <p>Prepares for and executes equipment installation, operation, and performance qualifications (IQ, OQ, PQ) of laboratory equipment.</p> <p>Performs troubleshooting and repair of ALHS and integrated components</p> <p>Attends vendor training courses as assigned.</p> <p>Assists in advanced troubleshooting of complex workflows on ALHS.</p> <p>Maintain records of work performed with completed service including cost of time and materials.</p> <p>Maintain adequate inventory of supplies, equipment, reference materials and spare parts to complete assignments.</p> <p>Move equipment and automation between labs and buildings.</p> <p>Assists in liquid class and protocol validations as assigned.</p> <p>Perform laboratory equipment inventory reviews and ensure all equipment records are accurate and up to date.</p> <p>Participate in required safety training and other continuing education at the request or direction of the Laboratory Automation Engineering Supervisor.</p> <p>Demonstrate professional demeanor in all interactions, develop and maintain positive relationships internally and with outside vendors.</p> <p>Meet all deadlines by effectively organizing time and work.</p> <p>Other duties as assigned.</p> <p>Physical and Other Requirements:</p> <p>Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist</p> <p>Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction</p> <p>Mobility: The person in this position needs to occasionally move between work sites and inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.</p> <p>Communicate: Frequently communicate with others</p> <p>PPE: Biohazard laboratory environment that requires use of personal protective equipment in accordance with CDC and OSHA regulations and company policies.</p> <p>ARUP Policies and Procedures: To conduct self in compliance with all ARUP Policies and Procedures</p> <p>Medium Work: Exerting up to 75 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.</p> <p>Fine Motor Control: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.</p> <p>Vision: Having close, far, and peripheral visual acuity to perform a variety of tasks such as make general observations of depth and distance</p>
