As one of only four pediatric burn specialty hospitals in the Shriners Children's health system and the only American Burn Association verified burn center in New England and New York, we are an inpatient facility specializing in pediatric burn care, cleft lip and palate care, as well as reconstructive and plastic surgery. Shriners Children's Boston has served patients from over 70 countries through our partnerships around the United States and across the globe. Our team includes physicians and specialists who hold teaching positions at Harvard Medical School and are affiliated with Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH).</p> <p>Job Overview</p> <p>Shriners Children's Boston is seeking a compassionate and skilled PRN Nurse Practitioner to join our dedicated team in providing world-class care to children with complex medical needs. This position is ideal for providers looking for flexible scheduling while making a meaningful impact in a mission-driven pediatric setting.</p> <p>The minimum requirement is one shift per month, though PRN providers can typically expect availability for approximately four shifts per month based on departmental needs and provider availability.</p> <p>This PRN role supports our interdisciplinary team in delivering high-quality, patient- and family-centered care to pediatric burn and cleft lip and palate patients in a clinic setting. Responsibilities may include conducting pre-op assessments, providing direct patient care, collaborating with attending physicians and care teams, and supporting continuity of care in an outpatient setting.</p> <p>The pay range for this position is $54.58 to $93.56 per hour. Compensation is determined based on years of experience and departmental equity.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Perform patient assessments, including medical histories and physical exams, under the supervision of an attending physician </li><li>Assist in diagnosing and managing pediatric burns and cleft lip and palate conditions </li><li>Participate in outpatient clinics, follow-up visits, and post-operative care </li><li>Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as X-rays, MRIs, and lab work </li><li>Document clinical findings and treatment plans in the electronic medical record </li><li>Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, and home care instructions </li><li>Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care </li><li>Participate in quality improvement initiatives and support institutional goals </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program </li><li>American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), or equivalent board certification in applicable specialty area, such as Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP-AC, CPNP-PC) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) </li><li>Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license in the state of practice </li><li>Active DEA license required </li><li>Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required. </li><li>2+ years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner in pediatrics and/or burns highly preferred. New graduates with significant pediatric, burns or plastics clinical experience will also be considered. </li></ul>
