<p>Job Title: CNC Mazak Lathe Operator</p> <p>Location: Die Cast Mold Shop</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>We are seeking an experienced CNC Mazak Lathe Operator to join our die cast mold shop team. The primary focus of this role is to manufacture high-precision cores for die cast molds using Mazak CNC lathes. The ideal candidate will ensure efficient production, maintain strict quality standards, and manage inventory of cores and materials. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with strong technical skills in CNC machining, finishing processes, and shop operations to support our mold production needs.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Set up, operate, and maintain Mazak CNC lathes to produce cores for die cast molds according to blueprints and specifications. </li><li>Set up, operate, and maintain manual lathes to produce cores for die cast molds according to blue prints and specifications. </li><li>Set up, operate, and maintain manual grinders to produce cores for die cast molds according to blue prints and specifications. </li><li>Manage inventory of cores, including tracking stock levels, organizing storage, and reporting shortages or excesses to ensure uninterrupted production. </li><li>Uphold quality standards by inspecting machined cores against prints (blueprints) using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges to verify dimensions, tolerances, and surface finishes. </li><li>Maintain inventory of raw materials, including monitoring usage, ordering supplies as needed, and ensuring proper storage to prevent waste or damage. </li><li>Perform finishing operations on cores, including stoning and polishing to achieve required surface quality and functionality. </li><li>Program and edit CNC code as necessary for Mazak lathes to optimize machining processes and improve efficiency. </li><li>Conduct routine maintenance on Mazak lathes and related equipment, including cleaning, lubricating, and troubleshooting minor issues to minimize downtime. </li><li>Measure and inspect parts during and after production, making offsets and adjustments to tools as needed to maintain accuracy. </li><li>Adhere to all safety protocols, quality control procedures, and shop standards in a die cast mold environment. </li><li>Perform other related duties as assigned, including supporting general shop operations and assisting with mold assembly or testing when required. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications and Skills</p> <ul> <li>Proven experience (3-5 years preferred) operating CNC lathes, Manual Lathes, and manual grinders, with specific hands-on knowledge of Mazak machines and controls. </li><li>Strong understanding of machining principles, including reading and interpreting blueprints, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance), and material properties relevant to die cast molds (e.g., tool steels, alloys). </li><li>Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments and performing quality inspections to ensure parts meet exact specifications. </li><li>Ability to perform manual finishing tasks such as stoning and polishing with attention to detail. </li><li>Basic inventory management skills, including tracking and organizing materials in a manufacturing setting. </li><li>Familiarity with die cast mold production processes, including core manufacturing, is highly desirable. </li><li>High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in CNC machining or related field is a plus. </li><li>Excellent problem-solving abilities, mechanical aptitude, and the capacity to work independently or in a team. </li><li>Physical stamina to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in a shop environment with exposure to noise, dust, and machinery. </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions</p> <ul> <li>Full-time position with standard shop hours (6:00 AM - 4:30 PM), with overtime or shift work based on production demands. </li><li>Competitive starting pay based on experience (typically $22-$28 per hour). </li><li>Benefits include health insurance, paid time off, and opportunities for training and advancement in a dynamic manufacturing environment. </li></ul> <p>If you are a skilled CNC Mazak Lathe Operator passionate about precision machining and quality craftsmanship, we encourage you to apply, please send resume to Tyler_Plummer@topdie.com!</p>
