The ideal candidate will foster a love for reading and learning among students while promoting an understanding of proper research techniques and the importance of digital literacy. Teaching students in grades K-6, while also collaborating with staff and administration, requires that the individual be passionate and self-directed, eager to foster an engaging library environment that supports the school's educational goals and enhances student achievement.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Operates and supervises the media center. </li><li>Designs lessons and teaches students in grades K-6. </li><li>Evaluates, selects, and requisitions appropriate books, aids, and other supplies and equipment, and maintains inventory records. </li><li>Serves as a resource to teachers and students in guiding book selection. </li><li>Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents. </li><li>Develops and arranges media center displays. </li><li>Assists with the preparation and administration of the media center budget. </li><li>Trains and supervises media center support employees. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Strong knowledge of library management systems, digital resources, and educational technology tools. </li><li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students, staff, and the community. </li><li>Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. </li><li>Knowledge of differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles. </li><li>Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth. </li><li>Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying informed about best practices in library and media services. </li></ul> <p>Education and Certification/License</p> <ul> <li>Degree in Library Science, Library Media, or a related field from an accredited institution. </li><li>Valid state certification or licensure as a school library media specialist. </li></ul> <p>Experience</p> <ul> <li>Experience with elementary age students. </li><li>Experience in a similar position preferred but not required. </li></ul> <p>Compensation</p> <ul> <li>The position is paid in alignment with the Oradell Education Association salary guide with a range of $58,500 - $108,175. </li><li>This full-time position includes medical and dental benefits. </li></ul> <p>EEO</p>
