This role involves teaching music theory and instrumental techniques, preparing students for performances and competitions, and fostering a positive and inclusive environment that promotes student growth, musical excellence, and school spirit. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Listed below are the essential tasks performed to achieve the purpose of this job. Job Tasks Descriptions Frequency % of time Plan, organize, and conduct regular band rehearsals and performances. 4 X year 10 Teach instrumental music classes and provide individualized instruction to students. 4 x week 56 Prepare students for local, regional, and state competitions. 4 x year 5 Coordinate and supervise all aspects of the marching band, including halftime shows, parades, and pep events. 10 x year 5 Maintain an inventory of musical instruments, uniforms, and equipment. 2 x year 5 Collaborate with other music faculty and school staff to support cross-disciplinary events and school-wide initiatives. 6 x year 5 Manage program budget, fundraising efforts, and booster club communications. 1 x month 5 Actively Participate in department-level Professional Learning Communities (PLC) meetings to engage in ongoing professional growth and collaboration with colleagues. 1 x day 2 Attend and contribute to school and district-level professional learning opportunities, including workshops, training sessions, and team meetings, to enhance instructional practices and alignment with district goals. 9 x year 2 Perform other duties as assigned. M 5 TOTAL= 100% EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE: <ul> <li> Bachelor's degree in Music Education or a related field (Master's preferred). </li><li> Valid teaching license or certification in Music Education. </li><li> Prior experience directing high school or middle school band programs preferred. </li><li> Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. </li><li> Ability to work evenings and weekends for performances and events. </li></ul> TECHNICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES: <ul> <li> Proficiency in instrumental pedagogy across brass, woodwind, percussion, and rhythm section instruments. </li><li> Comprehensive understanding of music theory, composition, and conducting techniques. </li><li> Ability to arrange and adapt music for varied ensembles and student skill levels. </li><li> Experience with marching band design including drill writing, show planning, and field coordination. </li><li> Familiarity with music education software and tools, such as Finale, Sibelius, SmartMusic, or Pyware. </li><li> Knowledge of sound reinforcement systems and audio equipment used in performances. </li><li> Strong classroom management skills that promote discipline and engagement. </li><li> Ability to assess and develop students' musical abilities through effective feedback and differentiated instruction. </li><li> Understanding of UIL/MEA guidelines (or applicable state competition rules and procedures). </li><li> Logistical planning and organizational ability for trips, performances, and competitions. </li><li> Budget management and fundraising woodwinds, percussion, and electronic instruments. </li><li> Use and setup of sound and amplification systems, including mixers, microphones, speakers, and wireless systems for indoor and outdoor events. </li><li> Proficiency with music notation and sequencing software, such as Finale, Sibelius, MuseScore, GarageBand, Logic Pro, or similar programs. </li><li> Utilization of drill design software (e.g., Pyware) for marching band choreography and formations. </li><li> Basic knowledge of recording equipment and video editing tools for performance review, student feedback, and promotional materials. </li><li> Use of metronomes, tuners, and other rehearsal aids, both physical and digital. </li><li> Maintenance and care of marching band equipment, including uniforms, color guard gear, props, and instrument storage solutions. </li><li> Operation of transportation and equipment logistics, including trailers, carts, and field setup systems. </li><li> Familiarity with
