This role involves teaching music theory and instrumental techniques, preparing students for performances and competitions, and fostering a positive and inclusive environment that promotes student growth, musical excellence, and school spirit.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Listed below are the essential tasks performed to achieve the purpose of this job. <p>Bachelor's degree in Music Education or a related field (Master's preferred).</p> </li><li> <p>Valid teaching license or certification in Music Education.</p> </li><li> <p>Prior experience directing high school or middle school band programs preferred.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to work evenings and weekends for performances and events.</p> </li></ul> <p>TECHNICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Proficiency in instrumental pedagogy across brass, woodwind, percussion, and rhythm section instruments.</p> </li><li> <p>Comprehensive understanding of music theory, composition, and conducting techniques.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to arrange and adapt music for varied ensembles and student skill levels.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience with marching band design including drill writing, show planning, and field coordination.</p> </li><li> <p>Familiarity with music education software and tools, such as Finale, Sibelius, SmartMusic, or Pyware.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of sound reinforcement systems and audio equipment used in performances.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong classroom management skills that promote discipline and engagement.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to assess and develop students' musical abilities through effective feedback and differentiated instruction.</p> </li><li> <p>Understanding of UIL/MEA guidelines (or applicable state competition rules and procedures).</p> </li><li> <p>Logistical planning and organizational ability for trips, performances, and KNOWLEDGE:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Operation and basic maintenance of band instruments, including brass, woodwinds, percussion, and electronic instruments.</p> </li><li> <p>Use and setup of sound and amplification systems, including mixers, microphones, speakers, and wireless systems for indoor and outdoor events.</p> </li><li> <p>Proficiency with music notation and sequencing software, such as Finale, Sibelius, MuseScore, GarageBand, Logic Pro, or similar programs.</p> </li><li> <p>Utilization of drill design software (e.g., Pyware) for marching band choreography and formations.</p> </li><li> <p>Basic knowledge of recording equipment and video editing tools for performance review, student feedback, and promotional materials.</p> </li><li> <p>Use of metronomes, tuners, and other rehearsal aids, both physical and digital.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintenance and care of marching band equipment, including uniforms, color guard gear, props, and instrument storage solutions.</p> </li><li> <p>Operation of transportation and equipment logistics, including trailers, carts, and field setup systems.</p> </li><li> <p>Familiarity with classroom technology, including interactive
