Courses are taught in a classroom setting and may include a lab component. Please indicate your availability in your cover letter.</p> <p>Rate of Pay:</p> <p>Per Contact Hour</p> <p>2025: Less than Master's = $1069; Master's or above = $1109</p> <p>FLSA Status:</p> <p>Exempt</p> <p>Grant Funded:</p> <p>No</p> <p>Job Summary:</p> <p>Adjunct teaching faculty provide instruction aligned with the college's strategic goals and evaluate students' progress to facilitate achievement of their educational goals.</p> <p>Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Associate's degree in a related field with 4,000 hours of documented work experience OR, Bachelor's degree in a related field with 2,000 hours of documented work experience </li><li>Minimum 3 years' teaching experience in a technical field </li><li>Strong communication skills </li></ul> <p>Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>5 years' experience in building maintenance </li><li>High Pressure Stationary Engineer's License </li><li>ESCO Excellence Certified </li><li>Refrigeration experience </li></ul> <p>Essential Duties:</p> <p>Deliver Instruction</p> <ol> <li> <p>Conduct assigned classes and/or labs</p> </li><li> <p>Prepare lessons</p> </li><li> <p>Provide course syllabus (which shall include grading standards, attendance policies, classroom behavioral expectations, course outline and contact information)</p> </li><li> <p>Verify student enrollment and submit grade sheets</p> </li></ol> <p>If a lab is involved:</p> <ol start="5"> <li> <p>Prepare labs</p> </li><li> <p>Enforce lab safety procedures</p> </li></ol> <p>Evaluate Student Progress</p> <ol> <li> <p>Keep accurate record of student performance</p> </li><li> <p>Provide students with timely feedback</p> </li></ol> <p>Provide Student Assistance</p> <ol> <li> <p>Maintain office hours and voice-mail/e-mail communication</p> </li><li> <p>Refer students to student support services</p> </li><li> <p>Accommodate special needs students</p> </li></ol> <p>Provide classroom instruction with related lab in the following residential/commercial hvac areas:</p> <p>Electrical, heating, air conditioning, load calculations, blueprint reading, tools and equipment related to subject, and safety.</p> <p>Other Duties:</p> <p>Other duties as assigned that pertain to the job description</p> <p>Physical Demands:</p> <p>Medium (up to 50 lbs. occasionally or 30 lbs frequently or 10 lbs constantly)</p> <p>Visual Acuity:</p> <p>Arms length</p> <p>Work Environment:</p> <p>Loud noise</p> <p>Environmental Conditions:</p> <p>Hazards, vibrations and fumes or airborne particles</p> <p>Equal Employment Opportunity Statement:</p> <p>Elgin Community College does not discriminate, or tolerate discrimination, against any member of its community on the basis of race, color, national origin, ancestry, sex/gender/gender identity, age, religion, disability, pregnancy, veteran status, marital status, sexual orientation, or any other status protected by applicable federal, state or local law in matters of admissions, employment, or in any aspect of the educational programs or activities it offers.</p> <p>In addition, Elgin Community College provides reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals with disabilities to ensure equal access and equal opportunities with regard to employment practices, educational opportunities, and programs and services.
