<p>Production Planner</p> <p>Job Title: Production Planner</p> <p>Location: Anderson, SC</p> <p>Reports To: Director of Manufacturing</p> <p>Department: Operations</p> <p>Position Summary</p> <p>The Production Planner is responsible for developing and maintaining the production schedule for our made-to-order custom closet manufacturing operation. This role ensures that all orders are scheduled, released, and tracked effectively through the shop floor, balancing customer delivery commitments with manufacturing efficiency. The Production Planner will coordinate closely with CAD/engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, and shipping teams to ensure seamless workflow, timely delivery, and accurate reporting.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Production Scheduling & Coordination: Develop, maintain, and communicate the master production schedule based on order demand, material availability, and manufacturing capacity. Coordinate priorities with CAD/engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure all projects meet deadlines. Adjust schedules proactively to address capacity constraints, delays, or changes in customer requirements. Manage schedule changes due to design revisions, rush orders, or customer updates and communicate updates to all impacted teams. </li><li>Capacity Planning & Load Balancing: Analyze machine, labor, and material capacity and adjust schedules to optimize throughput. Identify potential bottlenecks in advance and develop action plans to resolve them. </li><li>Material Planning & Inventory Coordination: Work closely with purchasing to ensure required materials are available for scheduled jobs. Flag material shortages or delays that could impact production and propose solutions. </li><li>ERP & Data Management: Utilize NetSuite ERP to manage work orders, schedule changes, and capacity planning. Print and distribute shop packs (work order packets) to the manufacturing floor. Maintain accuracy of production data in NetSuite, ensuring all work orders, completions, and variances are properly recorded. Audit shop packs and ensure they contain complete, accurate information before release. </li><li>Reporting & Accountability: Prepare and distribute daily/weekly production reports, highlighting bottlenecks or delays. Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for schedule adherence, on-time delivery, and productivity. Lead weekly production meetings with cross-functional teams to review project status and hold teams accountable for deadlines. </li><li>Cross-Departmental Communication: Serve as the central point of contact between CAD/Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Customer Service regarding order status. Provide clear production timelines and proactively communicate risks or delays. </li><li>Workflow Optimization & Continuous Improvement: Recommend process improvements that reduce lead times, enhance product flow, and eliminate wasted effort. Partner with teams on root cause and corrective action for recurring issues that cause delays. Support ERP process improvements and ensure shop-floor practices align with scheduling best practices. </li><li>Support for Shipping & Logistics: Coordinate with shipping to ensure finished goods are staged and shipped per schedule. Provide advance notice of production delays that could affect customer delivery commitments. </li><li>Training & Mentorship: Train shop leads and team members on production schedule priorities and ERP procedures. Mentor others on how to use data and scheduling tools to improve daily decision-making. </li><li>Special Projects: Participate in plant layout projects, equipment justification initiatives, and ERP system enhancements that impact scheduling and efficiency. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, or a related field preferred, or equivalent job experience. </li><li>3+ years of production planning or scheduling experience in a made-to-order, manufacturing environment (cabinetry, millwork, furniture, or similar preferred). Experience using NetSuite ERP or similar ERP systems required. </li><li>Skills & Competencies: Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, lead-time management, and capacity planning. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Proficient in data analysis and reporting; advanced Excel skills preferred. Strong communication and leadership skills; able to influence and hold others accountable in a team environment.
