<p>Software Engineer-Oracle Database</p> <p>Overview:</p> <p>We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our growing Business Application IT team to build modern data platforms to support our Talcott Reinsurance Business. The ideal candidate is a hands-on software engineer with experience in Oracle database, PL/SQL, and Python development. The candidate must have strong, first-hand technical expertise in a software development life cycle. Experience with Azure DevOps is a plus. Must have a variety of experience handling large and complex data sets related to company investments and financials. The candidate must be at ease working in an agile environment with little supervision including daily and weekly reports on progress of work. This person should embody a passion for continuous improvement and test-driven development.</p> <p>Primary Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Leads technical efforts with moderately complex requirements. </li><li>Take ownership of issues to their resolution </li><li>Perform root cause analysis and provide solutions to prevent future issues </li><li>Responsible for reviewing solution options and preparing detailed solution design specifications for the selected option. </li><li>Responsible for application development which includes coding, testing, debugging and documentation per technical specifications. </li><li>Responsible for developing data processing scripts and ETL components. </li><li>Follows the Talcott software development lifecycle and security policies. </li><li>Analyzes and resolves problems associated with applications; detects, diagnoses, and resolves related problems. </li><li>Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. </li><li>Analyze, design, and develop software programs to automate data feeds. </li><li>Provide ongoing maintenance, support and enhancements in existing systems and platforms. </li><li>Collaborate cross-functionally with data scientists, business users, project managers and other engineers to achieve elegant solutions. </li><li>Provide recommendations for continuous improvement. </li><li>Work alongside other engineers on the team to elevate technology and consistently apply best practices. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>2-3 years of related experience working with Oracle </li><li>Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience. </li><li>Able to translate business needs into the right technical solutions. </li><li>Hands-on experience working with modern programming languages like Python is a plus. </li><li>Experience with scripting languages like PowerShell, Shell, etc. </li><li>Experience with test-driven development and automated testing frameworks. </li><li>Experience with Scrum/Agile development methodologies. </li><li>Capable of delivering on multiple competing priorities with little supervision. </li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills. </li></ul>
