<p>Description & Requirements</p> <p>https://skillbridge.osd.mil/</p> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Install and maintain complex networks that typically link several computing platforms, operation systems and network topologies across widely dispersed geographic areas. </li><li>Evaluate hardware and software suitable for large complex networks. </li><li>Install, maintain and upgrade network interface programs. </li><li>Monitor and maintain security procedures. </li><li>Manage network performance. </li><li>Troubleshoot and resolve complex problems to ensure no disruption of mission-critical applications. </li><li>Maintain fault-tolerant systems and manages system backups. </li><li>Recommend changes in methods or procedures, where necessary. </li></ul> <p>As an intern Network Engineer at the Battle Lab, you will support the integration of design, deployment, and maintenance of advanced network environments used for testing and experimentation. Working with senior engineers, you'll help configure network devices, troubleshoot issues, monitor performance, and ensure reliable, secure connectivity across lab systems.</p> <p>You will coordinate and assist with routing and switching tasks, network security activities, vulnerability scanning with tools like Qualys, and documentation of network designs and FedRAMP aligned boundaries. You'll collaborate with cross functional teams, improve processes, and contribute to the Battle Lab's mission by enabling resilient, high performance network capabilities.</p> <p>Minimum Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience. </li><li>3-5 years of related experience. </li><li>Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. </li><li>Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. </li><li>Builds productive internal/external working relationships. </li><li>Computer Professional Job Profile </li></ul> <p>Length of Program</p> <p>31-60 Days (60 days)</p> <p>Total Number of Weeks</p> <p>8-12 (Depending on the time frame the fellow is approved for)</p> <p>Week 1 Introduction to Maximus & Network Operations</p> <p>Learn company structure, network operations, workflows, and tools (Salesforce).</p> <p>Week 2 Maximus Enterprise Infrastructure Overview</p> <p>Understand core networking concepts: TCP/IP, OSI, VLANs, routing basics, DNS/DHCP.</p> <p>Week 3 Routing & Switching Technologies</p> <p>Apply routing/switching concepts: OSPF, BGP basics, STP, trunking, EtherChannel.</p> <p>Week 4 Network Security & Access Control</p> <p>Learn firewalls, ACLs, VPNs, Qualys scanning, and FedRAMP boundary requirements.</p> <p>Week 5 Network Monitoring, Tools, & Troubleshooting</p> <p>Use monitoring tools (SolarWinds, etc) and Salesforce for incident tracking.</p> <p>Week 6 Wireless Networking & Unified Communications</p> <p>Understand wireless standards, controllers, AP provisioning, VoIP, and QoS basics.</p> <p>Week 7 Cloud & Virtual Networking Technologies</p> <p>Learn cloud networking (AWS/Azure), SD WAN, virtualization, and cloud security tools.</p> <p>Week 8 Network Design, Documentation, & Continuous Improvement</p> <p>Create network diagrams, document FedRAMP boundary designs, and support improvement efforts.</p> <p>#DODSkillBridge #veteranspage #C0reJobs #LI-Remote</p> <p>EEO Statement</p> <p>Maximus is an equal opportunity employer.
