<p>Introduction</p> <p>The Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency (MLGCA) serves as one of the largest revenue sources for the State of Maryland, supporting important state programs and services including education, public health and safety, human resources and the environment. In addition to generating revenue from the sale of lottery products, the MLGCA is also responsible for the oversight of the state's casino gaming program, providing direction and guidance to its casino partners on financial, security, regulatory and licensing procedures for the facilities. The Agency also regulates Sports Wagering, Daily Fantasy Sports and Electronic Bingo, as well as Instant Ticket Lottery Machines, which are located at almost 90 Veteran's posts. Gaming in Maryland is a dynamic and growing business that operates around the clock, 365 days of the year.\n</p> <p>GRADE</p> <p>17\n</p> <p>LOCATION OF POSITION</p> <p>Ocean Downs Casino?\n10218 Racetrack Road\nBerlin, Maryland 21811\n</p> <p>POSITION DUTIES</p> <p>The Maryland Lottery and Gaming Commission is seeking a Gaming Auditor (Internal Auditor) to conduct compliance checks, economy and efficiency reviews, and program results of the Lottery. The incumbent of this position will also review, evaluate and test internal controls in place at the video lottery casinos.\n\n\nPosition duties include but are not limited to:?\n\n\n\n\n Work under the supervision of Audit\n Supervisor to conduct scheduled audits of Casinos, Bingo Halls, and VFWs\n (planning, fieldwork, reporting, follow-up).??\n Assist Audit Supervisor with the development of audit documentation (i.e.,\n audit scope and objectives, audit programs, checklists, and testing work\n papers).??\n Answer\n audit objectives, obtain sufficient and appropriate evidence, support\n conclusions and form appropriate recommendations that are auditable and\n feasible.\n Assist Audit Supervisor with preparation\n and review of audit reports.\n \n Travel to Casino, Bingo Hall, and\n VFW facilities to conduct audits.\n \n Analyze, document, and perform\n testing of business processes at facilities.\n \n Review\n and evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls.\n \n Review\n and evaluate compliance with internal control policies and procedures\n approved by the Maryland Lottery Commission.\n Conduct\n interviews with casino personnel to ensure that the casino is complying with\n documented internal accounting controls.\n Assist in daily administration of\n the Audit Department\n Provide\n status reports to Audit Supervisor on a weekly basis\n Perform\n special projects as assigned.\n \n\n\n</p> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>Education: A Bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited college or university or a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with 30 credit hours in accounting and related courses, including or supplemented by 3 credit hours in auditing.\n\nExperience: Three years of experience conducting financial and operational internal audits that include elements for finance and compliance, economy and efficiency, and program results.?\n\n\nNotes:?\n1. Applicants who have met the requirements for admission to the CPA examination prior to July 1, 1974 will be considered to have met the educational requirement referenced above.\n2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a certificate as a Certified Public Accountant or Certified Internal Auditor or a master's degree in accounting from an accredited college or university?for one year of the required experience.\n3. Candidates?may substitute one year of professional accounting experience for one year of the required?experience.?\n4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Internal Review classifications or Auditing specialty codes in the Financial or Auditing fields of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.\n\n\n</p> <p>DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualifications.
