<p>Job Description:</p> <p>The History Adjunct Faculty role will provide effective and high-quality instruction; help students master course content; assess student learning outcomes; maintain current knowledge in their teaching field; continuing professional development; utilizing current technology in the performance of job duties; maintaining standards of professional conduct and ethics; assisting with curriculum development and program review; serving on college committees and participating in faculty governance including accreditation and student co-curricular activities; assuming other responsibilities as assigned by the area Dean; and fulfilling other duties and responsibilities of a part-time faculty member as outlined in the college faculty handbook.</p> <p>Teaching assignments may include, but are not limited to, courses in:</p> <ul> <li>US History </li><li>World History </li><li>Latin American History </li><li>Modern African History </li><li>Caribbean History </li><li>Black Studies </li></ul> <p>Title: Adjunct Faculty - History</p> <p>Unit: DCE Collective Bargaining Agreement: DCE CBA</p> <p>Department: Liberal Arts</p> <p>Reports To: Dean of Liberal Arts</p> <p>Date: Fall 2025</p> <p>Duties and Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Participate in the assessment of student learning outcomes for courses and programs. </li><li>Work collaboratively within the Social Science Department to ensure student outcomes, attend monthly Department meetings and events if available. </li><li>Prepare and distribute syllabi that inform students about course requirements, grading requirements, testing assignments, attendance policy, and other information for each course assigned. </li><li>Prepare, administer, and grade assignments and examinations in a timely manner to inform students about their progress. </li><li>Encourage the use of support services by students. Collaborate with support services staff to ensure that information is being shared and discussed. </li><li>Follow procedures related to the Registrar's office, including grade reports and deadlines; attendance record reports; withdrawal deadlines; class changes; and time and room scheduling. </li><li>Participate in faculty evaluations as described by the department the Dean. </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in history. </li><li>At least 2 semesters of experience teaching with Canvas Learning Management System. </li><li>Must have completed Canvas Training to teach online. </li><li>Must be available to teach in person. </li><li>Experience teaching at a community college otherwise a 4-year college/university </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Experience working with students from diverse social, cultural, and economic backgrounds who possess wide ranges of academic abilities and interests. </li><li>Teaching experience at a community college </li><li>Demonstrated ability to provide diverse teaching methods to different learning styles </li><li>Experience teaching online </li><li>Experience using Open Educational Resources (OER) </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>Compensation: Based on the DCE CBA</p> <p>Location: Roxbury campus</p> <p>Unit Status: DCE</p> <p>Expected Start Date: August 2025</p> <p>Application Instructions:</p> <p>All applicants must apply online by submitting:</p> <ul> <li>Cover Letter </li><li>Resume </li><li>Names and contact information for three (3) professional references </li></ul> <p>Successful applicants will be required to complete a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI/SORI) request.</p> <p>After completing all the steps above, please go back into the newly created account and double check that your resume and cover letter uploaded as you intended.</p> <p>Roxbury Community College understands that persons with specific disabilities may need assistance with the job application process and/or with the interview process.
