<p>Job Responsibilities</p> <p>Careers at DPH:</p> <p>Work that makes a difference!</p> <p>Embracing Service, Inspiring Innovation, Promoting Teamwork, Pursuing Excellence, and Advancing Equity</p> <p>Under the supervision of the Administrative Assistant, the Administrative Specialist will meet, interview, and direct pubic health clients in accordance with the Preventive Health (PH) and Immunization (IZ) programs and agency policies. Employee will provide quality customer service, following the established guidelines around cultural competency and maintain confidentiality.</p> <p>Job Duties are as followed:</p> <p>Client Services:</p> <ul> <li>Meet, interview, and direct public health clients in accordance with Preventive Health (PH) and Immunization (IZ) program's procedures and agency policies. </li><li>Process information to complete medical records and enter all client information into applicable electronic applications. </li><li>Answer customer care line and all calls to schedule appointments and answer any inquiries concerning services. </li><li>Screen and update eligibility based on program requirements. </li><li>Position may require periodic standing and lifting up to thirty (30) pounds. </li></ul> <p>Training and Development:</p> <ul> <li>Attend relevant program and agency training and meetings. </li><li>Periodic review of the necessary materials utilized to provide services and if they are handled properly. </li><li>Prepare and submit departmental reports. </li></ul> <p>Emergency Preparedness:</p> <p>In accordance with the State's Disaster Plan, which includes hazardous weather, DPH employees may be required to work in times of an emergency or disaster.</p> <p>Minimum and Additional Requirements</p> <p>State Minimum Requirements:</p> <p>A high school diploma. Related clerical experience may be substituted for a high school diploma.</p> <p>Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.</p> <p>Applicants indicating college credit or degree(s) on the application may upload an unofficial copy of the transcript as an attachment to the application. Please note that the agency will require an official, certified copy of the transcript or diploma prior to hiring.</p> <p>Agency Additional Requirements: High School diploma or GED and two (2) years of medical office/clinical clerical office experience which includes public contact or an Associates' Degree in Secretarial Science or a related field and one (1) year of medical office/clinical clerical office experience; must have advanced computer skills and office equipment knowledge.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <p>Bilingual in Spanish/English; one (1) year experience with electronic health and or medical records; and one (1) year experience with other third party insurance billing.</p> <p>Additional Comments</p> <p>DRIVING RECORD: If this position requires the applicant to possess a valid driver's license to operate a state vehicle or personal vehicle, any applicant being considered in the final stages of selection for the position will be required to provide a certified copy of a 10-year driving record.</p> <p>EEO: The Department of Public Health is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all applicants and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions including, but not limited, to lactation), national origin, age (40 or older), disability, or genetic information.</p> <p>Reasonable Accommodation: Applicants needing an accommodation for medical reasons or a sincerely held religious belief may submit a request for an accommodation.
