<p>Position Summary</p> <p>The Wade House Historic Site is a 240-acre outdoor living history museum located in Greenbush, Sheboygan County, Wisconsin. Guests experience the era of stagecoach travel at the Wade House Hotel and discover what an 1850s town was like at the Dockstader Blacksmith shop and the Herrling Sawmill. Our beautiful Visitor's Center includes the Wesley J. Jung Carriage Museum with over 40 carriages on display. Horse drawn carriage rides transport guests throughout the site as part of the daily experience and sheep and chickens roam the grounds. Wade House connects people to the past through unparalleled storytelling and historic experiences to create lasting memories. Staff work in historic indoor and outdoor spaces with fellow team members across the picturesque site to create an exceptional experience for our guests.</p> <p>The Education and Programming Assistant serves as the lead for school group tours and/or summer camp programs. School group tours are held in May and October and summer camps are held in June and July. The Assistant must be skilled in leading groups of students, teaching, and instructing them. They will be charged with helping coordinate school group visits and summer camp bookings, the on site logistics during the programs, and working closely with fellow team members to provide outstanding experience for guests at the Wade House Historic Site.</p> <p>Coordinate School group visits:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of (or willingness to learn) and maintain training materials and support systems for fellow staff as it relates to historic interpretation, educational programs, and public programs </li><li>Conduct research and collaborate with Curator to ensure accuracy and sustainability of daily interpretation and facilitation. </li><li>Assist with booking school groups, coordinating schedules, and organizing visits to maximize the number of students able to visit the site. </li><li>Organize all materials needed for each aspect of the school group visits ensuring staff have everything they need to provide an engaging experience. </li><li>Perform opening and closing procedures for all duty stations. </li></ul> <p>Coordinate Summer Camps:</p> <ul> <li>Implement summer camp lesson plans, must familiarize themselves with past years and activities, and be willing to learn various 1860s activities and methods to demonstrate at the camps. </li><li>Assist with booking summer camps, coordinating schedules, and facilitating paperwork and planning to maximize organization and efficiency. </li><li>Assist with the camp activities on the Wade House grounds with campers using the various buildings and locations. Create a memorable and enjoyable experience for summer camp participants. </li></ul> <p>10 - 40 hours per week during the season.</p> <p>Salary Information</p> <p>Pay is $20.00 per hour with a weekend differential of 80 cents per hour. This classification is in schedule and class 02-11.</p> <p>Please note this is a Limited Term Employment position so it does not include paid time off or benefits upon hire.</p> <p>Job Details</p> <p>A criminal background check will be conducted by WHS prior to an offer of employment to determine if the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job.</p> <p>This is a Limited Term Employment (LTE) position and limited to 1,039 hours. This position will be part time and average 20 hours per week.</p> <p>Wisconsin residency is required for Limited Term Employment positions.</p> <p>Limited Term Employment (LTE) positions are not civil service classified positions, do not give any rights to permanent civil service classified positions and do not lead to permanent status.</p> <p>WHS does not sponsor work visas. Any appointment made will be contingent on the applicant being able to prove valid status to work in the United States.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Experience working with school age children. </li><li>Skills and ability to communicate effectively in person and by other means with staff, guests, and volunteers of diverse backgrounds and interests. </li><li>Ability to carry out assigned duties with a minimum of supervision. </li><li>Ability to complete assigned duties in historic structures lacking climate control and with direct exposure to the outdoors in farm and wooded environments, including allergens and insects, may need to work outside in all weather conditions on occasion. </li><li>Ability to walk, stand, and be mobile for long periods of time. </li><li>Days and hours will vary to accommodate specific programs and events. </li><li>Knowledge, skills and ability to use computer systems, including email, timekeeping software, MS office applications. </li></ul> <p>How To Apply</p> <p>Apply online!
