<p>Responsibilities for this Position</p> <p>Entry Level Mechanical Engineer</p> <p>US-CT-Groton</p> <p>Job ID: 2025-15598</p> <p>Type: Full-Time</p> <p># of Openings: 1</p> <p>Category: Engineering</p> <p>EB Groton Shipyard</p> <p>Overview</p> <p>Department 492 engineers will work in a Design/Build Team environment and be responsible for the completion of design studies and analysis, preliminary and detail component design, system engineering, material selection and manufacturing reviews. Engineers will provide support for the development, installation and test of submarine systems in the area of weapons handling, weapons launch, retractable masts, hydraulic components/cylinders, steering & diving systems, ship hatches and doors, towed systems, Special Operations Forces and other studies. Responsibilities include performing detail mechanical analysis, machine design development, review of system and component specifications, technical reviews of vendor supplied equipment, coordination of design services and vendors, and evaluation of design concepts and cost reduction ideas. Engineers will interface with engineers from all disciplines, designers, shipbuilders, trades, vendors, Navy Labs and NAVSEA customer personnel. Must be able to support off hours, weekend routine and trouble resolution events.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Required:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Marine, aerospace, or biomedical Engineering </li><li>Less than 5 years of related experience </li></ul> <p>Preferred:</p> <ul> <li>Experience with reading 2D drawings as well as 3D CAD design systems and FEA Abaqus </li><li>Experience in designing mechanical systems/components for seawater exposure/immersion </li></ul>
