<p>B.L. Harbert International is seeking a Mechanical Design Manager to join our team in the International Group's Washington DC office. This individual will report directly to the Director of Mechanical Operations.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Lead mechanical design efforts for Design-Build and Design-Assist projects </li><li>Review and coordinate mechanical design documents for contract compliance on Design-Bid-Build projects </li><li>Participate in Value Engineering (VE) and Constructability reviews during the design phase </li><li>Support Life-Cycle Cost Analyses (LCCAs) to guide design decisions </li><li>Manage design documentation packages including drawings, specifications, and basis of design narratives </li><li>Coordinate and oversee internal design teams, external consultants, and subcontractors to ensure cohesive design development </li><li>Review submittals, RFIs, and design clarifications for client and project team review </li><li>Develop mechanical systems selection and layout based on performance, budget, and project requirements </li><li>Perform equipment and material take-offs to support budgeting and procurement </li><li>Support the development of scope narratives and mechanical design criteria for project proposals </li><li>Interface with BIM/VDC teams to ensure 3D model alignment with design intent </li><li>Coordinate closely with construction teams to ensure design deliverables align with project schedule and field requirements </li><li>Contribute to commissioning planning and design intent verification </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>U.S. Citizen </li><li>Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance </li><li>Minimum 7-10 years of experience in mechanical design or MEP coordination </li><li>Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience in mechanical systems design </li><li>Willingness and ability to travel to international project sites </li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel </li><li>Experience with design and coordination software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and/or Navisworks </li></ul> <p>Preferences:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and site utility design </li><li>Familiarity with MEP design standards and building codes </li><li>Experience with commissioning support and system balancing </li><li>Understanding of controls and instrumentation systems </li><li>BIM/3D modeling proficiency a plus </li><li>Exposure to project closeout and turnover documentation </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to use hands to grasp, reach above and below, and work overhead </li><li>Ability to stoop, bend, walk, kneel, crouch, and crawl as needed </li><li>Ability to lift and move items up to 25 lbs. </li><li>Ability to sit for extended periods with occasional standing </li><li>Manual dexterity to operate office equipment and perform design tasks </li><li>Ability to maintain concentration in a fast-paced office environment </li></ul> <p>Work Environment:</p> <ul> <li>Primarily office-based with occasional travel to job sites </li><li>Must be flexible with work hours to meet project demands </li></ul> <p>B.L.
