In this context, Spellman High Voltage Electronics Corp. is seeking a highly talented, motivated, creative, and experienced Engineering professional in the field of Power Electronics, Power Management and Digital Controls technologies and applications, to include development, testing and validation.</p> <p>This position is located in our global headquarters, Hauppauge, NY</p> <p>Onsite, 5 days per week.</p> <p>This position allows the candidate to advance the power electronics technologies that both support the existing company product line and enables expansion for the next generation products.</p> <p>The successful candidate must be able to work independently on new power electronics concepts (advanced development) which can be demonstrated to be mass produced while also supporting on-going customer product development activities as needed.</p> <p>Candidate must have deep knowledge in power electronics design and simulation. Professional experience in high voltage power supply design environment for highly regulated markets and applications a definite plus</p> <p>The candidate must be deadline driven, a self-starter and able to deliver completed assignments with minimum supervision.</p> <p>Further, in this role, people management / soft skills, coaching and mentoring, are all key requirements to be successful in this role.</p> <p>What You Will Do:</p> <p>Technical</p> <ul> <li>Project Planning for applied technology development needs </li><li>Interface with peers in the Engineering team to implement features desired as described in product and application requirements. </li><li>Support the review and interpretation of internal/external customer requirements </li><li>Responsibilities range from designing, developing power conversion and control circuits, component selection, bread-boarding, testing, troubleshooting, problem solving, system integration and reporting results. Desired Knowledge/Skill Requirements: • Background in Power Electronics topologies and applications that implement Silicon Carbide, Gallium Nitride, or Silicon Devices • Excellent understanding of semiconductor non-idealities, losses, and loss modelling. </li><li>High level circuit simulation/analysis, testing and debugging. • Demonstrated ability to investigate, design and develop power electronics hardware in a fast-paced environment. • Must be able to multitask while delivering excellent results in a multi-priority environment • Strong command of fundamental concepts such as thermal dynamics, controls, power conversion topologies, noise immunity and EMC. • Provide detailed written design theory and design documentation. • Verbal and technical language proficiency in English. • Provide detailed cost analysis versus performance gains. • Provide detailed design verification reports, MTBF, DFX, Life Cycle Performance. • Skilled using laboratory test & measurement equipment • Strong knowledge in power electronics simulations tools (PSPICE, Matlab / Simulink and others). • Strong understanding of schematics and PCB layout. • Strong background in control theory and signal processing. • General competency in all core fields (power conversion, electronics, electromagnetics, controls hardware, firmware and software). • Excellent problem definition and solving techniques as well as good organization and documentation abilities. • Demonstrated ability to work independently and with others: • Envision the Future • Communicate Honestly and Broadly • Seek Technology and Business "First" • Embrace Diversity and Take Risks Why Work with Us: </li><li>Must be self-motivated, show initiative and have a strong desire to succeed. </li><li>Ability to work independently to elaborate on complex technical and/or engineering tasks. • Ability to lead teams. Desired Characteristics: • 10+ years of relative experience • MSEE or PhD is preferred </li><li>Plan and formulate engineering programs and organize project teams according to project requirements and priorities. </li><li>Participate in and contribute to strategic discussions regarding products, markets, and technology/product road-mapping. </li><li>Review product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements and applicable specifications (industry standards and homologation requirements). </li><li>Lead and oversee product design reviews and provide applicable approval for design changes, specifications. </li><li>Ensure compliance with all Spellman and other governing security regulations </li></ul> <p>What You Need:</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in Electrical Engineering and 10+ years demonstrated experience in hands-on product and technology development in the power conversion and management (power electronics field). High voltage X-ray power conversion technology experience is very highly desired but not required. </li><li>Extensive knowledge of power electronics, power conversion, analog circuit design and functional knowledge of magnetic design principles, both low and high voltage is preferred </li><li>7+ years leading an engineering team in a global company with a preference for direct exposure to a manufacturing environment, </li><li>Demonstrated leadership abilities with a focus on tactical as well as strategic business aspects </li><li>Demonstrated ability to identify and enhance the strengths of team members, coaching, motivating, and directing as needed </li><li>Commitment to fostering high performance, and an environment of open collaboration and teamwork </li><li>Flexible, customer focused orientation with an eye on successful and seamless project execution as well as on the strategic needs of the company </li><li>Passionate about collaborating with other company teams in a multidisciplinary and multi-functional environment (sales and marketing, operations, quality, supply chain), customers…etc. to drive a continuous and strong focus on value creation </li><li>Excellent project management skills and knowledge of other engineering design and analysis tools in the field of power conversion, power management, digital and analog control. </li><li>Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally (approximately 10%) </li></ul> <p>Our good faith estimate for the salary for this position is $141,000-$191,000.
