<p>Acting under the direction of the Adult Day Program Supervisor, the Adult Development Program (ADP) Behavioral Instructor is responsible for providing direct instructional services to individuals served who have significant behavioral barriers interfering with various aspects of social functioning. The ADP Behavioral Instructor ensures the safety, care and welfare and of individuals served, and promotes increased independence through the use of behavioral principles, techniques, and methods and Person-Centered Practices. The ADP Behavioral Instructor shall ensure activity schedules are created, activities are structured and based on client preference and need, materials are available for carrying out activities, and curriculums are utilized in conjunction with established goals and objectives outlined in Individual Service Plans (ISPs) and Behavior Support Plans (BSPs).</p> <p>The ADP Behavioral Instructor shall work closely with the Behavioral Lead Instructor (Registered Behavior Technician) and the Director of Behavioral Services or other assigned Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to carry out instruction and curriculums. The ADP Behavioral Instructor shall be the front-line person responsible for conducting classes and demonstrations to teach principles and techniques, or methods in a variety of subjects including, but not limited to activities of daily living, visual and performing arts, home economics, communication and social skills, physical exercise, vocational training, etc. Curriculums, methods, and techniques shall align with the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and Positive Behavior Supports (PBS).</p> <p>Responsibilities and Duties</p> <ul> <li> <p>Ensure all services provided to participants of the behavioral component of the ADP program are person-centered.</p> </li><li> <p>Understand and implement lesson plans that include meaningful training activities and ensure that activities comply with ISPs, BSPs, the ADP program design, CMS requirements, and client choice. Activities must be meaningful to the individuals served.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure all changes in daily activities are noted on the appropriate documents and comply with ISPs.</p> </li><li> <p>Communicate change of activity requests to the Director of Behavioral Services or other assigned BCBA and only act upon changes once approval is received.</p> </li><li> <p>Model appropriate classroom behavior and ensure that all individuals are encouraged to participate in daily activities.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide training to individuals in assigned groups with all activities of daily living as specified in the Individual's Program Plan (IPP), Individual Service Plan (ISP), and Behavior Support Plan (BSP).</p> </li><li> <p>Provide structured classroom environment.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide training to individuals in the least-restrictive, most appropriate setting including simulated training on campus and practical training in community locations.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide support to individuals in an assigned group with personal needs as specified in each individual's IPP, ISP and BSP. This may include, but is not limited to, changing adult incontinence products, feeding the individual according to the support plans, and any other need that arises through the course of the program day. Instructors are expected to provide this support during lunch and before the first and last scheduled activity of each day.</p> </li><li> <p>Follow all program procedures when handling client and company funds.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide appropriate supervision to ensure the health, welfare, and safety of individuals served by the agency.</p> </li><li> <p>While providing direct supervision, the ADP Behavioral Instructor may not leave clients unattended and must remain with assigned clients until relieved by another staff member. This includes ensuring proper staffing ratios are adhered to.</p> </li><li> <p>Inform the ADP Program Supervisor about concerns related to client health, welfare, and safety in a timely manner.</p> </li><li> <p>Identify needs, including specific training needs, and convey this information effectively to the ADP supervisor.</p> </li><li> <p>Attend regular supervisory meetings to review client issues and convey concerns to the ADP Supervisor as necessary.</p> </li><li> <p>Gather data on individual progress (including daily notes, ISP data, behavioral data, skin checks, seizure logs, etc.) and ensure data is accurate and complete.</p> </li><li> <p>Implement behavior reinforcement plans and recognize the need for modification/alteration to existing plans. Convey concerns and recommendations for changes to the Director of Behavioral Services or other assigned BCBA for possible inclusion in the plan.</p> </li><li> <p>Comply with all associated laws, regulations, and agency policies and procedures.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain a high quality of work performance.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain high quality company-wide relations by using respectful and cooperative communication with coworkers.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain high quality community relations by using respectful and cooperative communication with members of the community.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain participant confidentiality: this includes not disclosing personal information about any individual served by Las Trampas to community members or coworkers who do not have a direct need to know.</p> </li><li> <p>In all situations, ensure the rights and dignity of the individuals served by the agency.</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in all required meetings and trainings.</p> </li><li> <p>Adhere to the Las Trampas Mission Statement and to the principles of person-centered services.</p> </li><li> <p>Complete all other duties as assigned.</p> </li></ul>
