Find out more about NIU and the NIU Libraries by visiting https://www.niu.edu/index.shtml and https://library.niu.edu/ulib/ .</p> <p>Position Summary</p> <p>Monitors, supervises and leads activities related to the management, operation, and security of University Libraries. Serves as liaison with NIU Trades Departments, NIU Health and Safety, NIU Police Department, and NIU Building Services Departments. Provides detailed recommendations and budgets necessary for efficient facility management.</p> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities</p> <p>Building Maintenance</p> <ul> <li>Monitors physical conditions of Founders Memorial Library as well as activities of the users. </li><li>Enforces state, university, and library rules, regulations, and policies pertaining to the use of the library. </li><li>Notifies appropriate staff members of emergency situations or illegal activities. </li><li>Monitors all secure areas of Founders Memorial Library. </li><li>Serves as liaison to NIU Building Services, and Grounds Departments. </li><li>Serves as liaison with all Trades Departments. </li><li>Issues all work orders for repair and maintenance of the Libraries' physical property: </li><li>Maintains records of work order instructions for effective communication with workmen. </li><li>Arranges for additional building services coverage as necessary. </li></ul> <p>Library Space Management</p> <ul> <li>Coordinates and assigns library instructional and class study rooms, disseminating this information as necessary. </li><li>Provides administrative support for annual assignment of faculty carrels including preparing mailings to NIU faculty members, distributing keys, and monitoring return of keys from faculty. Assigns doctoral lockers and graduate student lockers. </li><li>Oversees the removal of uncharged materials from faculty carrels, doctoral and student lockers and notifying appropriate individuals of the removal of items. </li></ul> <p>Facilities Financial Management</p> <ul> <li>Leads and participates in discussions regarding facilities improvements of both a Capital and non-Capital nature. Prepares documentation necessary to request Capital Projects. </li><li>Prepares budget recommendations for improvements necessary to maintain and/or update Founders Memorial Library. </li></ul> <p>Facilities Operational Management</p> <ul> <li>Participates in the development of guidelines, procedures, and policies. </li><li>Serves on Libraries committee related to facilities and security. </li></ul> <p>Facilities Team Management</p> <ul> <li>Hires, schedules, trains, supervises, disciplines and evaluates one full-time security guard supervisor. </li><li>Reviews the log and/or records of incidents in the library. </li><li>Serves as liaison to NIU Police Department.
