<p>PUBLIC WORKS/UTILITY DEPARTMENT: FACILITIES MAINTENANCE</p> <p>Under direction, the purpose of the position is to provide technical and mechanical electric work. Employees in this classification perform at journey level, and are responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing and replacing electric parts, equipment and motors. Employee is accountable for ensuring all work is performed in compliance with all applicable electrical codes, standards and regulatory requirements. Employee works with considerable independence, however confers with the supervisor in unusual electrical matters.</p> <p> </p> <p>Executes routine and moderately complex maintenance and repair work in the electrical trade.</p> <p>Installs, maintains, alters, repairs and replaces various electrical and mechanical equipment, to include wiring systems, electrical systems, switch panels, flood lights, security lights, kitchen equipment, and electrical motors.</p> <p>Inspects, maintains, installs and makes electrical repairs to specialized equipment and conducts other electrical and some mechanical work in repairing and replacing parts.</p> <p>Ensures all work is completed in compliance with all applicable electrical codes, standards and regulatory requirements.</p> <p>Operates manual, electrical and specialized tools, to include voltmeters, amp-meters, circuit tracer, rotation meters, power-factor meters, welders, drills.</p> <p>Reads, interprets and utilizes various blue prints, drawings, diagrams, and technical/electrical manuals.</p> <p>Operates bucket truck and forklift as designated by the assigned work area.</p> <p>Maintains various records and reports, including job records, parts inventory, supply lists, and work orders.</p> <p>Maintains inventory supply for parts, equipment, machinery and tools; procures necessary items.</p> <p>Reports equipment malfunctions and facility maintenance needs to immediate supervisor.</p> <p>Inspects work upon completion to ensure conformance to prescribed standards and to ensure environmental safety.</p> <p>May conduct plumbing, carpentry, and painting as assigned.</p> <p>May assume team leader position during particular assignments.</p> <p>Must be able to perform after hours emergency stand-by shift as required. </p> <p> </p> <p>ADDITIONAL POSITION FUNCTIONS </p> <p> </p> <p>Performs related duties as directed when such duties are a logical and appropriate assignment to the position.</p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p>Associate's Degree or specialized courses/training equivalent to satisfactory completion of two years of college in electrical maintenance and repair or closely related field; supplemented by four (4) years responsible experience in electrical maintenance and repair or closely related technical experience.</p> <p> </p> <p>Must have Journeyman's level Electrical Certification.</p> <p> </p> <p>Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License and must be able to acquire a Class B CDL license within 90 days of employment in the position.</p> <p>Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.</p> <p>Skill in inspecting machinery and mechanical equipment and to detect and identify apparatus malfunctions.</p> <p>Considerable knowledge of all functions relevant to the operation of electrical facilities and equipment.</p> <p>Ability to operate various hand held tools, and electrical diagnostic and repair equipment, e.g., voltmeters, amp-meters, circuit tracer, rotation meters, power-factor meters, welders, drills.</p> <p>Ability to operate basic office equipment, e.g., computer terminals, printers, copy machines, telephone systems, facsimile machines.</p> <p>Considerable knowledge of current codes and regulatory standards governing electric repair and maintenance of utilities equipment and machinery.</p> <p>Ability to provide electrical plans oversight and recommend/develop modifications as necessary to ensure overall project compliance with applicable codes and regulatory standards.</p> <p>Ability to read, update, and maintain various records and files.</p> <p>Ability to access, operate, and maintain various software applications.</p> <p>Ability to operate basic office equipment, e.g., computer terminals, printers, copy machines, telephone systems, facsimile machines.</p> <p>Ability to withstand exposure to dust, mold, fiberglass and various chemicals.</p> <p>Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.</p> <p>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS </p> <p>While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.</p> <p>While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is occasionally required to push and/or pull over 50 pounds.</p> <p>While performing the essential functions of this position the employee is frequently exposed to risk of electrical shock, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals, and work near moving mechanical parts.</p>
