Standards and policies as well as Human Resources are available when guidance is indicated.</p> <p>The unit Director, Main Operating Room is responsible for the fiscal, human resources, clinical, materials management, and communication operations of the nursing/outpatient units. The Director, Main Operating Room's professional role description is based on ANA's Nursing Administration's Scope of Standards and UCLA's Nursing Professional Practice Model.</p> <p>The Unit Director, Main Operating Room for RR Main OR oversees all aspects of operations. The incumbent shall support workflow optimization for staff and patients. The primary responsibilities include:</p> <ul> <li>Support creating capacity and volume of surgical cases </li><li>Direct supervision for the clinical nurse manager, support services manager, administrative support supervisor, and administrative nurse II of Cardiac services including a focus on coaching to develop problem-solving skills that will maximize quality, efficiency, and throughput </li><li>Facilitate the hiring of open/vacancy clinical positions </li><li>Support education, operations, and maximize communication with staff through various methods including weekly staff meetings, daily huddles, active daily management rounds </li><li>Bring ideas and processes for improvement to the Executive Director Operative Services, Medical Director, and Director, Nursing & Operations </li><li>Support the clinical nurse leaders through challenging situations, focusing on coaching and support to develop their leadership skills </li><li>Create and manage plans for increasing efficiency, and improving quality. </li><li>Review and support the onboarding plans for new hires, and cross-training of staff into services </li><li>Assist in development and implementation of staffing plans, fiscal management, and monitoring environmental safety </li><li>In collaboration with the Medical Director and Scheduling department, work with clinical nurse leaders who review and approve the OR surgical schedule. Support creating capacity and volume of surgical cases </li><li>Review and enhance clinical processes and workflow to meet the needs of surgical departments and divisions. Develop collaborative relationships with surgical department and division CAO and chairs/leaders to obtain regular feedback. Bring ideas and processes for improvement to the Director, Medical Director, Director, Nursing & Operations, and Sr. Director Operative Services </li><li>Engage with staff and create strategies to improve retention and staff satisfaction </li><li>Work collaboratively with surgeons, anesthesiologists and nursing staff to improve quality and patient care metrics using evidenced based best practice </li><li>Optimize daily workflow by assessing work assignments. Engage with the Charge Nurse and Nurse leadership team to optimize the efficiency of the department and support throughput as necessary </li></ul> <p>Job Qualifications</p> <p>Press space or enter keys to toggle section visibility</p> <p>Required:</p> <ul> <li>Current California RN license </li><li>Bachelor's and Master's Degree required, one of which must be in Nursing </li><li>Minimum of 5 years of OR experience and 2 years management experience </li><li>BLS from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association </li><li>Skill to independently scrub and circulate in multiple service lines </li><li>Skill in implementing appropriate nursing interventions on a consistent basis </li><li>Ability to develop, implement and evaluate workflows, seeking continuous improvement </li><li>Ability to communicate effectively and have knowledge of UCLA policies </li><li>Ability to interpret metrics and utilize to improve quality, safety, and efficiencies </li></ul> <p>As a condition of employment, the final candidate who accepts an offer of employment will be required to disclose if they have been subject to any final administrative or judicial decisions within the last seven years determining that they committed any misconduct; or have filed an appeal of a finding of substantiated misconduct with a previous employer.</p>
