<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Under the direction of Director of Residence Life and Housing, the Community Director is a part of a residence life and housing program that is evolving and focusing on creating a dynamic living and learning environment for a campus of approximately 1300 residential students. The Community Director will be an enthusiastic student-centered professional who works independently in a residential area of up to 500 residents and be part of a team of dedicated professionals that works towards creating a vibrant community across the Curry campus. Community Directors supervise and provide a leadership opportunity for 7 to 12 student resident assistants. This is a full-time, 12-month, live-on position. Position starting July 1, 2026.</p> <p>Essential Function:</p> <ol> <li>Residential Operations: (30%) </li></ol> <ul> <li>Strong understanding of student development, and demonstrated application of that in a residential environment. </li><li>Oversee day-to-day administration of their assigned residential area of up to 500 beds including oversight of community events, staff, facility and public safety matters, damage billing and education, and related matters. </li><li>Provides student advising, mediation and referral to campus resources when appropriate. </li><li>Collaborates with Residence Life central office staff and other key departments (Buildings and Grounds, Public Safety, Community Standards & Accountability) to maintain residential facilities that are safe and comfortable for personal and academic success. </li><li>Assists with all openings, closings, and related "all hands" functions. </li><li>Works with the Associate Director to maintain up-to-date housing assignment information and assists with the necessary paperwork for room assignments and changes. </li><li>Work with the Associate Director to manage lock changes, building openings and closings, and other operational aspects of residential life and housing. </li><li>Responds, manages and follows up on crises or emergencies within the campus community. </li></ul> <ol start="2"> <li>Supervision: (20%) </li></ol> <ul> <li>Supervise seven to twelve Resident Assistants (RAs). </li><li>Oversee RA programming efforts according to Residence Life and Housing programming model. </li><li>Manage RA duty scheduling and ensure RAs are following duty expectations. </li><li>Assists with the training and on-going development of the resident assistant staff. </li></ul> <ol start="3"> <li>Community Engagement (40%) </li></ol> <ul> <li>Maintains a presence within assigned residential area as well as throughout the greater Curry community. </li><li>Educate students on college policy and community expectations. </li><li>Serve as a Student Community Standards & Accountability Hearing Officer and meet with students that may have violated college policy. </li><li>Under the direction of the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs, serves as a mentor for a cohort of first time first year students. </li><li>Serve in the Residence Life On Call rotation for the entire campus community. </li><li>Participate in or lead assessment of community engagement efforts. </li><li>Support an environment that fosters holistic student development </li></ul> <ol start="4"> <li>Other (10%) </li></ol> <ul> <li>Respect and maintain confidentiality, parameters of operation, professional protocols, and individual privacy. </li><li>Champion a student-centered experience </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or their designee </li></ul> <p>Essential Characterisitics:</p> <ul> <li>Successful performance of this position demands consistent demonstration of the following uncompromised performance characteristics: </li><li>High degree of initiative for bringing tasks to successful completion and succeeding in achieving stated goals. </li><li>Positive attitude and positive action through a display of courtesy, collaboration, sensitivity and professionalism to interact with a variety of individuals. </li><li>Function independently, attention to detail, work under pressure, prioritize multiple projects, and handle confidential information. </li><li>Commitment to personal and departmental integrity, creativity, collaboration, initiative, and professionalism </li><li>Organizational and problem-solving skills (process management, College information systems, etc.) and the ability to work independently while maintaining the department vision. </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree is required. </li><li>Experience working in a residential college environment. </li><li>Excellent interpersonal, listening, collaboration and communication skills to effectively engage with a variety of individuals. </li><li>Ability to successfully perform in high pressure situations. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to foster productive relationships with various campus groups, students, faculty, staff, and families. </li><li>Ability to adapt your personal and professional schedule to the unique demands of residence life and the College's calendar (opening, closing, breaks, etc.). </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Master's Degree in a related field. </li><li>One to two years of professional experience working in a residence hall environment. </li></ul> <p>Salary Range:</p> <p>$44,000 to $46,000 annually</p> <p>Position starting July 1, 2026</p> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>Committed to attracting and retaining a diverse staff, Curry College will honor your experiences, perspectives and unique identity.
