<p>Art Teacher (High School)</p> <p>REPORTS TO: Building Principal</p> <p>Union: OEA</p> <p><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong>__</strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></p> <p>PURPOSE SUMMARY</p> <p>To create a flexible instructional program and a class environment favorable to</p> <p>learning and personal growth in addition to establishing effective rapport with</p> <p>students assigned to the classroom.</p> <p><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong>__</strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</p> <ul> <li>Effectively utilizes district technologies appropriate to the position and assumes responsibility for attending district training needed to successfully perform designated responsibilities as directed. </li><li>Maintains regular attendance. </li><li>Complies with State Law and District policies and regulations. </li><li>Maintains a safe environment for students, conducive to learning. </li><li>Teaches district-approved curriculum. </li><li>Develops lesson plans and instructional material and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student. </li><li>Models lessons for students. </li><li>Uses effective Classroom Management techniques. </li><li>Establishes, shares, and maintains standards of student behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere. </li><li>Anticipates and effectively addresses unforeseen crises associated with working with large groups of students. </li><li>Evaluates students' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports. </li><li>Identifies student needs and makes appropriate referrals and develops strategies for the individual education plans. </li><li>Oversee classroom employees, students and volunteers. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Physically able to occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to walk, stand, sit, stoop, bend, reach, kneel, crawl, and grasp as required to successfully perform all duties and requirements.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to focus (adjust eye to bring an object into sharp focus), clear vision at twenty (20) inches or less, and clear vision at twenty (20) feet or more.</p> </li><li> <p>Must be able to work in heat and cold (outside seasonal temperatures).</p> </li></ol> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong>__</strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></p> <p>EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree, Master's degree, or Doctorate from an accredited university or college.</p> <p>EXPERIENCE:</p> <ul> <li>Appropriate academic background and coursework for the position. </li><li>Successful teaching experience and effective work with high school age students, preferred. </li></ul> <p>CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES:</p> <ul> <li>Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsements. </li><li>Must maintain as current any certification or license listed herein and held at hire date. </li></ul> <p>CONTINUING EDUCATION/TRAINING: That which is required to be effective in the position and to maintain certification</p> <p>CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT</p> <p>Starting Date: 2025-2026 School Year (182 total contracted days)</p> <p>Salary: $63,612 - $122,620 annual salary.
