As part of Accenture, you will be working with an ambitious, collaborative team more empowered than ever to help customers modernize their IT for the AI era.</p> <p>You Are:</p> <p>An Enterprise Solution Architect with deep expertise in IBM iSeries (AS/400) systems, including RPG-based applications, DB2/400, middleware integrations, system operations, modernization frameworks, and managed-services delivery models. You excel at engaging prospective customers, diagnosing legacy platform challenges, and shaping modern, scalable solutions across operations, automation, modernization, and cloud-adjacent technologies.</p> <p>You operate confidently in presales environments-partnering with sales teams, leading technical discussions, and translating business requirements into executable architectures. You can independently design complex iSeries solutions while also co-creating outcomes collaboratively with clients and internal delivery teams.</p> <p>The Work:</p> <p>The primary responsibility of this role is to function as a Solution Architect across a variety of opportunities-from small focused workstreams to large, multi-tower transformation programs involving Application Managed Services and Professional Services for IBM iSeries environments.</p> <p>You will leverage deep solutioning and delivery experience across IBM iSeries operations, modernization, integration, high availability, batch processing, security, and maintenance models. You will help clients understand modernization pathways, operational efficiency opportunities, and the future-state roadmap for their mission-critical AS/400 workloads.</p> <p>This role requires strong architectural thinking, hands-on understanding of IBM i technology stacks, familiarity with hybrid modernization patterns, and the ability to articulate value clearly to senior stakeholders.</p> <p>Lead Pre-Sales Architecture & Solutioning for IBM iSeries:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Lead the design, development, and solution architecture for IBM iSeries/AS400 managed services, application support, modernization pathways, and operations transformation during the presales cycle.</p> </li><li> <p>Architect end-to-end delivery models covering operations, monitoring, HA/DR, patching, maintenance, batch orchestration, security, and integration workflows.</p> </li><li> <p>Design modernization options such as APIs, microservices integration layers, database refactoring, and refactoring/replatforming strategies.</p> </li></ul> <p>Represent the Solution to Senior Stakeholders:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Serve as the primary architectural voice in discussions with Operating Group leadership, sales executives, senior client buyers, and functional owners.</p> </li><li> <p>Present iSeries solution approaches, performance models, risk assessments, delivery structures, and modernization roadmaps in a compelling and business-aligned narrative.</p> </li></ul> <p>Drive Technology Delivery Sign-Off & Governance:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Drive the required Technology Delivery approvals-aligning scope, solution risks, assumptions, cost models, SLAs, and delivery feasibility with Operating Group leadership.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure all proposed solutions reflect established organizational standards, industry best practices, and client constraints.</p> </li></ul> <p>Collaborate Across Sales, SMEs, and Delivery:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Work closely with sales teams, IBM iSeries SMEs, application architects, DBAs, and delivery leaders to validate scope and feasibility.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate with delivery teams to ensure effective transition planning, resource estimation, and operational readiness.</p> </li></ul> <p>Promote Standards, Compliance & Methodology:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Promote the use of standardized solution components by coordinating with Legal, Commercial, and Corporate Development Transaction Services.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide input on contractual terms, service definitions, SLAs, and operational commitments.</p> </li></ul> <p>Assess Client Environments & Recommend Improvements:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Conduct deep-dive assessments of customer IBM i environments, including OS versions, hardware configurations, DB2/400 structures, security models, and technical debt.</p> </li><li> <p>Recommend operational improvements, automation opportunities, cost optimizations, and modernization pathways (API enablement, container adjacency, cloud integration).</p> </li></ul> <p>Support Delivery Alignment & Deal Stabilization:</p> <ul> <li>Partner with Technology leadership to identify the correct delivery Points of Contact. </li></ul> <p>Travel may range from 0% to 100% depending on deal stage, client discussions, and business need</p> <p>Qualification</p> <p>Here's what you need:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Minimum 8 years in a technology environment with strong focus on managed services, outsourcing, or systems integration.</p> </li><li> <p>Minimum 5 years in solution planning, deal shaping, presales engineering, or enterprise solution architecture.</p> </li><li> <p>Minimum 5 years of hands-on technical experience with IBM iSeries/AS400, including system administration, application operations, DB2/400 management, or integration.</p> </li><li> <p>Bachelor's degree or equivalent (12 years of work experience). If Associate's Degree: 6 years minimum relevant experience required</p> </li></ul> <p>Bonus Points if:</p> <ul> <li> <p>You have strong expertise in IBM iSeries components:</p> </li><li> <p>OS/400, DB2/400, CL, RPG, BRMS, PowerHA, MIMIX, journaling, batch processing</p> </li><li> <p>You have experience in modernization techniques such as:</p> </li><li> <p>API integration, microservices gateways, database modernization, workflow orchestration</p> </li><li> <p>You have knowledge of ITIL processes and how they align to IBM i operations.</p> </li><li> <p>You have familiarity with scripting, automation, or orchestration tools related to IBM i environments.</p> </li><li> <p>You have experience presenting technical solutions in presales or consulting roles.</p> </li><li> <p>You have excellent communication skills, with ability to translate technical concepts into business value.</p> </li></ul> <p>Compensation at Accenture varies depending on a wide array of factors, which may include but are not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience.
