<p>This position will assist with fieldwork, lab work, and data management for a study on the distribution and population density of the frosted elfin butterfly, a rare species proposed for listing as an endangered species.</p> <p>Primary fieldwork duties will occur in Holly Shelter Gamelands in Pender County. Example field duties include surveying sites for frosted elfin butterfly presence and abundance; measuring habitat and environmental variables; observing and handling butterflies for demographic experiments and surveys. Example lab duties include estimating floral nectar production. Example data management duties include data entry. The person in this position may also contribute to outreach and communication activities related to the frosted elfin.</p> <p>This position will run from April 15, 2026 - June 15, 2026.</p> <p>Work Schedule:</p> <p>20-40/hrs per week between 8-5, M-F.
