The City of Hampton is seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to provide advanced technology services supporting our local and wide area networks. This is an opportunity to play a critical role in maintaining reliable, secure, and high-performing network infrastructure that supports essential City operations and public services.</p> <p>Minimum Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Requires a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field of study. </li><li>Requires a minimum of five (5) years of full-time equivalent experience in configuring routers, switches, firewall policies and access controls to support data networks.  </li><li>Requires a minimum of one year of work experience configuring and deploying enterprise wireless. </li><li>A combination of education and experience may be considered for this position. </li><li>Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Juniper Networks Certified Internet Associate (JNCIA), Palo Alto Networks Certified Security Administrator (PCNSA) or other industry standard certification is preferred. </li><li>Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a satisfactory driver's record based on the City of Hampton's criteria. </li><li> Must successfully pass a background check prior to any offer of employment or promotion. </li></ul> <p>Additional Requirement</p> <ul> <li>Requires effective communication with internal and external customers. </li><li>Requires effective time management and task prioritization skills. </li><li>Requires some local travel and use of a personal vehicle. </li><li>May require working beyond a standard 40-hour work week to include evenings and weekends.  </li><li>Requires an on-call rotation to provide after-hours support. </li><li>The incumbent may be considered "essential personnel" during City emergency situations or at the direction of the City Manager which may include long hours and unusual schedules. </li></ul> <p>Click here for a complete job description.</p>
