<p>SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER, K-12</p> <p>BASIC FUNCTION:</p> <p>Under the direction of the school administrator, provide instruction and serve for those students placed in the special education program.</p> <p>REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:</p> <p>Provide instruction individually and in small groups in the academic areas of reading, math, language arts, social studies, science or any other, as designated, in each student's individual education plan (IEP). E</p> <p>Provide instruction in the areas of perception, self-help skills, responsibility or any other as designated in each student's individual education plan. E</p> <p>Monitor pupil progress in mainstreamed classes on a regular basis. E</p> <p>Provide appropriate material for students and keep records of progress. E</p> <p>Plan and coordinate the work of teacher aide. E</p> <p>Establish and maintain, with the cooperation and aid of the school administration, standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment. E</p> <p>Maintain professional competence through participation in in-service educational activities provided and supported by the District and in other professional growth activities selected by the teacher. E</p> <p>Communicate with parent and keep records of such communication. E</p> <p>Provide consultation and material, as needed, to regular staff members regarding mainstreamed students.</p> <p>Participate in the review and revision of individual education plans.</p> <p>Provide in the review and revision of individual education plans.</p> <p>Provide appropriate in-service to school staff as requested by the principal/teachers.</p> <p>Observe Code of Ethics (NEA and Title V).</p> <p>Supply necessary attendance data and other documentation to meet school, district and state requirements. E</p> <p>Attend and participate in faculty and District meetings. E</p> <p>Attend and participate in appropriate parent-faculty or community activities. E</p> <p>Share in the sponsorship and/or supervision of student activities.</p> <p>Carry out other duties as assigned.</p> <p>EDUCATION AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:</p> <p>Bachelor's Degree and appropriate special education teaching credential.</p> <p>WORKING CONDITIONS:</p> <p>ENVIRONMENT:</p> <p>Special education learning environment.</p> <p>Constant interruptions.</p> <p>PHYSICAL ABILITIES:</p> <p>Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling or otherwise moving objects.</p> <p>Sitting and standing for extended periods of time.</p> <p>Seeing to monitor students during classroom activities.</p> <p>Hearing and speaking to exchange information and provide instruction.</p> <p>Bending at the waist.</p> <p>Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate instructional equipment.</p> <p>Requirements / Qualifications</p>
