As an EMT with Audubon Nature Institute EMS, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our guests, employees, and community. Here's what you can expect:</p> <ul> <li>Be the First Line of Care: Respond to a wide range of first aid and emergency calls. </li><li>Create a Guest Experience of Outstanding Quality: Combine medical expertise with outstanding service to leave a lasting impression of care and professionalism. </li><li>Collaborate with a Dynamic Team: Work with passionate team members and other departments who are dedicated to our mission and celebrate the wonders of nature. </li><li>Thrive in a Unique Environment: You will use all your current pre-hospital skills and learn specialized skills and response like Exotic Reptile Envenomation, Diver Down, Ultrapotent Opioid Exposure, and Dangerous Animal Attacks. </li></ul> <p>Day to Day Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Respond to First Aid and Emergency Calls: Provide immediate medical care to guests, employees, volunteers, and contractors who need assistance, ranging from basic first aid to the EMT-Level. </li><li>Document Patient Interactions: Accurately and concisely record all patient contacts, ensuring documentation is clear, complete, and free of errors. </li><li>Maintain Patient Confidentiality: Treat all medical information with strict confidentiality to uphold privacy expectations. </li><li>Perform Equipment Checks: Inspect and restock emergency medical equipment, such as AEDs, oxygen, and other EMT-Level medical equipment. Use and maintain various medical and operational equipment, including vehicles and golf carts. </li><li>Inventory Management: Conduct regular inventory checks and ensure supplies are adequately stocked for operational readiness. </li><li>Stay Informed: Keep up to date with departmental protocols, regional protocols, and inter-departmental training, such as with Animal Staff or Hospital Staff. </li><li>Deliver Exceptional Customer Service: Provide a welcoming and professional demeanor, offering assistance outside of medical care to create a guest experience of outstanding quality. </li><li>Enforce Safety Standards: Proactively identify and address safety hazards, such as spills, heat, or unsafe practices, to ensure a secure environment for all. </li><li>Adhere to Scheduling Requirements: Maintain regular attendance per guidelines. </li></ul> <p>Additional/Overall Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Maintain a positive attitude and a strong sense of accountability, fostering a collaborative team environment where everyone feels empowered to contribute. </li><li>Thrive in a team environment, using your organizational and technical skills to ensure the smooth execution of creative projects that resonate with our audience. </li><li>Celebrate the successes of your team and bring enthusiasm to your work, reflecting the joyful culture that is at the heart of Audubon's mission. </li><li>Stay adaptable and open to learning new skills, embracing change and innovation as opportunities to lead and grow. </li><li>The above listed duties are general statements of required major duties and responsibilities performed on a regular and continuous basis. They do not exclude other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>What We're Looking For</p> <p>Must Haves:</p> <ul> <li>Licensure & Certifications </li></ul> <p>National Registry of EMTs (NREMT, AEMT, or NRP)</p> <p>Louisiana Bureau of EMS Practitioner License</p> <p>AHA BLS Healthcare Provider</p> <p>Valid U.S. Driver's License</p> <ul> <li>Experience </li></ul> <p>Minimum of three (3) years working experience pre-hospital</p> <ul> <li>Technical Skills </li></ul> <p>Must be comfortable using computers and cell phones for documentation software, such as ePCRs</p> <ul> <li>Availability </li></ul> <p>Willingness to submit availability of at least 1 day per month, 1 of which must be a weekend and ability to work weekends, holidays, and special events as necessary</p> <p>Nice-to-Haves:</p> <ul> <li>Affinity for parks and animals and an interest in working in a conservation-focused environment </li><li>EMS Educator Credential or any EMS-related certification Instructor </li><li>Fluent in languages other than English </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements: (Moderate Duty)</p> <ul> <li>Prolonged standing, walking, and climbing of stairs. </li><li>Ability to lift, push, pull. And carry objects up to 50 pounds. </li><li>Frequent bending, crouching, twisting, and reaching. </li><li>Manual dexterity to operate machinery or handle tools. </li><li>Frequent use of vision and hearing to assess surroundings and job tasks. </li><li>May include indoor and outdoor work environments. </li><li>Exposure to varying weather conditions. </li><li>Potential exposure to environmental hazards, such as dust, chemicals, or loud noise. </li></ul>
