<p>HarcoSemco is a Custom Aerospace Components Manufacturer. We have seen great success in innovating advanced manufacturing techniques in the design and fabrication of temperature sensors, thermocouple systems, interconnect cable-harness assemblies, probes, and sensors. For over 65 years, we have successfully supplied these products to the commercial, business, military jet, rotor, and spacecraft markets.</p> <p>We have an opportunity for a Senior Quality Engineer in our Branford, CT location.</p> <p>This position reports to the Director of Quality and will help develop and improve our manufacturing processes, as well as assist in implementing quality policies and systems. The position is responsible for designing and implementing processes for new products and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement, enhancing industrial processes to maintain efficiency, reduce costs, improve sustainability, and maximize profitability.</p> <p>This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements; therefore, a "US Person" as defined by 22 CFR 120.62, 15 CFR 734.2(b)(2)(ii), 10 CFR 810.3, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) is required. "US Person" includes a US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.</p> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Ensure that workflows, processes, and products comply with safety regulations and quality requirements </li><li>Manage all quality-related issues within the Business Unit team. (e.g., internal, customer, and customer warranty) </li><li>Design and implement methods for process control, process improvement, testing, and inspection. </li><li>Responsible for ensuring that the products produced meet quality standards required to minimize quality costs (COPQ) and maximize customer satisfaction while ensuring procedures and processes are followed. </li><li>Promote and execute quality standards, inspection processes, test methodology, quality plans, documents, and reports. </li><li>Create, revise, and improve quality standards, procedures, inspection processes, test methodology, quality plans, and documents. </li><li>Ensure compliance with the Quality Management systems and regulations. (ISO9001/AS9100, AS13100, NADCAP, FAA) </li><li>Participate in or lead the Quality Clinic / MRB activities. </li><li>Report to management on quality issues, trends, and scrap. </li><li>Create, monitor, and manage the implementation and completion of CAPAs (Corrective and Preventive Action). </li><li>Provide and present various RCCA (Root Cause Corrective Action) reports to customers. </li><li>Participate in internal and external quality audits. </li><li>Participate in training as required. </li><li>Conduct training as required. </li><li>Analyze internal and customer NCs to find root causes and implement CAPAs (Corrective and Preventive Actions). </li><li>Lead the cross-functional teams for root cause investigation and write reports as needed. </li><li>Up to 15% travel (domestic and/or international) as necessary. </li><li>Performs other activities, projects, or tasks assigned by leadership with minimal supervision. </li></ul> <p>Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate with external customers. </li><li>Self-motivated and able to work independently. </li><li>Self-manage workload: priorities, multiple tasks, and easily adapt to changing situations. </li><li>Thorough knowledge of process improvement methods and techniques, such as Lean and Six Sigma. </li><li>Strong knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP). </li><li>Problem-solving skills using methodical and systematic approaches. </li><li>Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications. </li><li>Highly proficient with the various MS Office programs. </li><li>Working knowledge of statistical software packages such as MINITAB. </li><li>Broad knowledge of theory and principles of statistics and statistical process control. </li><li>Diverse knowledge of inspection and control methods, techniques, and documentation. </li><li>Solid organizational and administrative skills. </li><li>Excellent communication and instruction skills. </li><li>Ability to directly communicate with customers and team members in formal/informal environments. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications & Experience</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or related discipline. </li><li>Minimum of 7-10 years' experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment and/or equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably welding and/or brazing. </li><li>Demonstrated understanding of project management and/or process improvement methodologies, preferably in the aerospace industry. </li><li>Agile and inquisitive thinker; interested in learning and applying new technologies and methodologies. </li><li>Fluent with various Microsoft Office tools. </li><li>Aerospace industry experience preferred. </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands & Work Environment</p> <ul> <li>A typical office environment, with controlled temperatures. </li><li>May be exposed to routine noise from the manufacturing plant floor. </li><li>Must be able to push, pull, and lift at least 15 lbs., unaided. </li><li>Must be able to sit, stand, reach, bend, and grasp equipment, tools, or inventory. </li><li>Must be able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as necessary when working in areas on the manufacturing plant floor. </li></ul> <p>What do we offer:</p> <ul> <li>Competitive compensation. </li><li>Generous paid time off, including 12 paid holidays. </li><li>401K, Medical, Dental, Vision benefits effective on 1st of the month after hire date. </li><li>Company provided Life and Disability Insurance. </li><li>Tuition assistance program. </li></ul> <p>Please note the salary information shown for this position is a general guideline only.
