<p>Tesla is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Legal Counsel or Analyst to join our global Tax department. Our focus is to create value and mitigate risk to achieve Tesla's purpose - "to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy."</p> <ul> <li>Support all aspects of indirect tax controversy matters in the United States and Canada, including managing audits, appeals, and litigation </li><li>Conduct legal research and analysis, draft legal memoranda and briefs </li><li>Provide insight into audit approach and enhance audit-readiness through validation and improvement of information and processes </li><li>Strategically partner with stakeholders, including Tax, Trade, Legal, Policy, Finance/Accounting, and IT, to assess audit risk, correct compliance gaps, and establish/update company tax positions </li><li>Support the business from an advisory perspective with respect to policy initiatives, legislative and regulatory developments, incentive opportunities, etc. </li><li>3+ years of indirect tax experience with a law firm, accounting firm, or corporate tax/legal department </li><li>CPA or J.D. and admission to at least one state </li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills </li><li>Self-starter who can organize, prioritize, and manage urgent and competing deadlines in a fast-paced and demanding work environment </li><li>Friendly and respectful individual who can build and maintain strong working relationships both internally and externally </li><li>Microsoft Excel skills a must. Preference for those with advanced data wrangling skills using Alteryx, Tableau, Knime, Power BI, etc. </li></ul>
