<p>Job Title: Director of Student Life & Development</p> <p>Position Type: Full-Time</p> <p>Division: Student Success</p> <p>Department: Student Life & Development</p> <p>Department Overview</p> <p>The Department of Student Life & Development fosters a dynamic and inclusive campus environment that supports student engagement, leadership development, and holistic growth. Through strategic programming and student-centered initiatives, the department enhances the co-curricular experience and builds community across the university.</p> <p>Position Summary</p> <p>Reporting to the Dean of Students, the Director of Student Life & Development provides leadership for a comprehensive portfolio that includes student activities, student organization development, leadership programs, civic engagement, and signature campus events. The Director plays a critical role in creating a vibrant campus culture by overseeing initiatives that promote belonging, connection, and personal development for a diverse student population.</p> <p>The Director advises key student leadership groups such as the Student Government Association (SGA), Royal Court, Greek Life and Social Fellowships, and Class Boards, while also supporting the university's recognized student clubs and organizations. The position collaborates across departments to support retention and student satisfaction through high-impact practices and inclusive campus engagement.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <p>Supervision & Advising</p> <ul> <li> <p>Provide day-to-day leadership and supervision for Student Life & Development staff and student leaders.</p> </li><li> <p>Advise the Student Government Association Programming Council, Royal Court, and Greek Life and Social Fellowship organizations.</p> </li><li> <p>Serve as a resource for student organization advisors and executive board members.</p> </li><li> <p>Manage the planning and execution of large-scale campus events such as Welcome Week, Homecoming, Spring Fling, and other university traditions.</p> </li><li> <p>Oversee the development and assessment of leadership training for student leaders and organization officers.</p> </li></ul> <p>Strategic Operations</p> <ul> <li> <p>In collaboration with the Dean of Students, develop and implement short- and long-term strategic plans to support an engaged and inclusive campus environment.</p> </li><li> <p>Establish and promote best practices for assessing the quality of the undergraduate student experience; use assessment data to inform continuous improvement efforts.</p> </li><li> <p>Support civic engagement, leadership development, and co-curricular learning for a diverse student body through programs and services that foster involvement and belonging.</p> </li><li> <p>Manage departmental operations including budgeting, marketing, event logistics, and student engagement platforms (e.g., Lions Connect, social media).</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain knowledge of campus resources and refer students to academic, career, and personal support services when appropriate.</p> </li></ul> <p>Collaboration & Campus Engagement</p> <ul> <li> <p>Maintain strong working relationships with key campus partners including Public Safety, Communications, Information Technology, Facilities, Dining Services, and other Student Success units.</p> </li><li> <p>Represent the department on university-wide committees as appropriate.</p> </li><li> <p>Support the mission and strategic priorities of Lincoln University and the Division of Student Success by assuming additional responsibilities as assigned by the Vice President for Student Success or Dean of Students.</p> </li></ul> <p>Compliance</p> <ul> <li>Serve as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) under the Jeanne Clery Act; responsible for reporting any allegations of crimes disclosed by students or employees to Campus Safety. </li></ul> <p>Desired Qualifications</p> <ul> <li> <p>Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in student life, student engagement, or a related area in higher education.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience advising student leaders and managing large-scale programs.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, student-centered environment.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience advising Greek-letter organizations and social fellowships.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience working in a culturally diverse campus environment.</p> </li><li> <p>Familiarity with student engagement platforms and assessment tools.</p> </li></ul> <p>Education Requirements:</p> <p>Master's Degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs or related field is strongly preferred. Candidates with a Bachelor's Degree and significant directly related experience in Student Life will be considered.</p>
