<p>The purpose of this manager position is to "seek to bring forth and establish the cause of Zion." In addition to functioning as a journeyman level Elevator Mechanic, the Elevator Mechanic Supervisor role is in charge of the team, scheduling, quality control, and performance management. This position will help ensure that church-owned elevators, escalators, and other units assigned are maintained and operated safely and at optimum performance levels. The person in this position will also help ensure that the work is done in a timely manner that meets division commitments.</p> <p>Pay range for this position will be: $60.00 - $66.00/hr depending on experience and education.</p> <ul> <li>Supervises the work of other employees. </li><li>Provides suggestions and recommendations as to the hiring, firing, advancement, promotion or any other change of status of employees under their supervision. </li><li>Translate section-wide assignments into individual team member assignments, allowing for adaptation of goals and specific tasks to occur at the individual level within the scope of the assignment. </li><li>Implement and manage a consistent process to regularly review team and individual performance, and counsel with team members on how to best make directional changes needed to achieve goals. </li><li>Implements and manages applicable training programs and individual performance management goals that develop and utilize employees' talents and abilities to continuously improve team and individual performance. </li><li>Creates and manages production schedules and assigns work orders. </li><li>Monitors and manages approved operational budgets. </li><li>Purchases materials, select tools and manpower, and generally oversees assigned jobs. </li><li>Performs follow-up to ensure completeness and quality of finished jobs. </li><li>Upgrading, installing, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing new and existing conveyance equipment in accordance with local and national codes. </li><li>Will need to work with states and other entities to set inspections and gain permits to perform work. </li><li>Follow procedures for lubricating, cleaning, and maintaining conveyances according to the Maintenance Control Program (MCP) and National and local elevator codes. </li><li>Travel to perform conveyance work across the United States in facilities owned by the Church. </li><li>Understand and use measuring devices, meters, and other specialty testing and programming tools. </li><li>May be asked to acquire contractors' licensing to be the qualifier for states or other jurisdictions so that the Church is legal to work in that area. </li><li>Onsite support for events. </li><li>Must be able to plan new or upgraded installations to minimize waste and maximize efficiency. </li><li>This position requires 24-hour on-call support. </li><li>Performs other tasks as assigned by Management. </li></ul> <p>Required:</p> <ul> <li>Significant leadership skills and ability to effectively manage and develop employees. </li><li>Significant professional knowledge and expertise found in someone with post-journeyman-level professional experience in the field. </li><li>Minimum of 4 years of work experience as an elevator mechanic. </li><li>Completed a four-year elevator apprenticeship through the "National Association of Elevator Contractors" Certified Elevator Technician program or equivalent. </li><li>Able to diagnose and repair elevator problems with the use of mechanical drawings, schematics (digitally or on paper), and diagnostic tools. </li><li>Has current licensure in all states and jurisdictions as required by law in which the work is performed. </li><li>Understands national, state, and other jurisdictional codes to perform work in the area, including modernizations, repairs, and maintenance. </li><li>Understands all conveyances to be able to write procedures for safety, maintenance, and repair. </li><li>Can travel on a regular basis, both driving and flying. </li><li>Proficient with computers for programming elevators, PC chips, and the use of Microsoft Office software, may be required to learn CAD/CAM software. </li><li>Able to design, draw and manufacture parts for elevator fixtures and car finishes. </li><li>Oversees the training of the apprenticeship program and plan classes and training labs. </li><li>Follows proper safety procedures when accessing elevator pits, car-top, and machine spaces. </li><li>Measures accurately and make conversions to other types of units, linear, speeds, fluids, weights, etc. </li><li>Must understand and be able to cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduit and hydraulic piping using such tools as a hacksaw, pipe threader, hydraulic and hand conduit benders. </li><li>Able to calculate wire fill for conduit and pull wiring through conduit, make necessary splices, etc. in compliance with codes. </li><li>Can work from ladders, scaffolds, mechanical lifts, and on top of elevator cars for extended periods of time. </li><li>Passes all required safety and equipment certifications and training. </li><li>Capable of understanding instructions both verbally and in writing in English and able to listen and ask clarifying questions as needed. </li><li>Works in a team in a professional manner as well as alone without supervision. </li><li>Has a valid driver's license and may be required to become DOT-certified. </li><li>Able to bend, kneel, squat, push, and pull for extended periods of time. </li><li>Has good eye-hand-foot coordination. </li><li>Must have stable, controlled hand movement. </li><li>Able to independently lift and position objects weighing as much as 50 pounds. </li><li>Can team lift and position objects weighing as much as 100 pounds on an occasional basis. </li><li>Able to work in confined spaces with low light levels for extended periods of time. </li><li>Has at least 20/40 vision with or without corrective lenses and not less than 120 degrees combined horizontal peripheral vision. </li></ul>
