<p>Job Description:</p> <p>The Coordinator of Tutoring (Academic Coordinator): STEM and Health Science engages and collaborates with our diverse campus community by providing leadership in tutoring and other academic support services. The coordinator works collaboratively with the Tutoring and Academic Support Center (TASC) team to design tutoring and tutor development so that the focus is always on inquiry-guided active learning, student engagement, and student-centered pedagogy. The coordinator works with a team to deliver tutor training, supervision, and outreach. In their role as liaison, the coordinator stays abreast of developments and trends in STEM and health science curriculum in order to deliver tailored services to support students. The coordinator is aware of current learning center pedagogy, and strives to align services with best practices. Additionally, they may provide supervision to peer tutors, student workers, or other non-union members. This coordinator is expected to think critically in analyzing problems and developing resourceful solutions and manage a complex workload, prioritizing tasks and completing work on time with minimum supervision. This position reports to the Director of the Tutoring and Academic Support Center. This position may be required to work evening hours to staff the TASC.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Recruits, trains, schedules, supervises, ad evaluates TASC peer tutors in STEM and health science disciplines aligned with College Reading and Language Association (CRLA) guidelines, our mission, and best practices in the field. </li><li>Collaborates with faculty and staff in STEM and health science disciplines to develop supports for students. </li><li>In collaboration with the Director and other staff, develops and conducts ongoing training and professional development for tutors. </li><li>Collect, analyze, and report usage data and contribute to TASC ongoing assessment. </li><li>Update and Maintain TASC's center management system with semester-relevant information. </li><li>In collaboration with the Director and other staff, update handbooks, brochures, flyers, and online materials each semester. </li><li>In collaboration with the Director and other staff, plan budget. </li><li>Facilitate group workshops and study sessions, and provide tutoring services in accounting, biology, chemistry, computers, economics, engineering, environmental science, data, math, statistics, and health science as needed. </li><li>Introduce TASC services to students, faculty, and staff in classes, other student service offices, and college events. </li><li>Collaborates with faculty and staff to integrate TASC information and support into BHCC curricula. </li><li>Serves as a TASC liaison to multiple college departments and programs. </li><li>Provides oversight for the TASC's daily operations as needed. </li><li>Other duties as assigned </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in Education, Counseling, Sociology, or closely related field; with five (5) years experience and/or training that includes academic advisement, academic placement, counseling, career development, math/electronics teaching, or program/project management; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Experience in developing online resources and record keeping. </li><li>Demonstrated expertise in delivering one-to-one learning sessions as well as group sessions. </li><li>Capacity for working collaboratively, flexibly, and creatively in a student-centered environment. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively and inclusively with a diverse population of faculty, staff and students. </li><li>Familiarity with current trends in academic support, community colleges, and higher education. </li><li>Excellent interpersonal skills; verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated organizational and time management skills. </li><li>Competency with a wide range of educational technologies and productivity software, as well as Microsoft Office Suite. </li><li>Demonstrable tutoring experience. </li><li>Experience with educational technologies and their applications in learning centers. </li><li>Experience with course and learning management systems, such as Blackboard, Moodle, or Canvas. </li><li>Experience with outreach and marketing services to students and faculty. </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>Salary: $77,358.00- $83,345.00(Actual Salary Will Be Commensurate With Education and Experience in Accordance with MCCC/MTA Collective Bargaining Agreement.)
