The role ensures that all laboratory spaces are equipped, organized, and maintained to support the hands-on learning experiences of nursing students. The Lab Coordinator will collaborate closely with faculty to facilitate skills development, ensure a safe learning environment, and assist in the preparation for practical examinations and clinical simulations. Lab coordinator is a full time 12-month position who oversees the operations of both Newtown and Northeast campus labs.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li> <p>Lab Management and Operations:</p> </li><li> <p>Oversee the setup, maintenance, and breakdown of nursing skills labs.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure labs are properly stocked with necessary supplies and equipment, making requisitions for replacements as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Troubleshoot and maintain equipment to ensure proper functionality and safety.</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinate the use of lab spaces with faculty and students, ensuring that scheduling is efficient and effective.</p> </li><li> <p>Student Support and Training:</p> </li><li> <p>Provide hands-on assistance and guidance to nursing students in skills development and practice sessions.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist students during lab exercises, offering feedback and support in the use of lab equipment and techniques.</p> </li><li> <p>Help facilitate student learning through demonstrations, skills check-offs, and other educational activities.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaboration with Faculty:</p> </li><li> <p>Work closely with nursing faculty to prepare and execute lab sessions that align with course curricula.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist faculty in the design and implementation of clinical simulations and practice scenarios.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide input and recommendations to faculty on lab-related activities and educational resources.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborates with Course Coordinators, NEP/NWT Simulation/lab Coordinator, and faculty to ensure preparation of lab supplies and equipment based on faculty requests and course schedule.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborates with Distance program coordinator in planning and managing Residency. Collaborates with course coordinators in med math support and run med math boot camps for the Fast Track/PTEW/Distance students.</p> </li><li> <p>Safety and Compliance:</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure that lab spaces are in compliance with safety standards and protocols, including infection control, equipment handling, and emergency procedures.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain accurate records of safety checks, maintenance, and inventory management.</p> </li><li> <p>Educate students on lab safety practices and policies.</p> </li><li> <p>Inventory and Equipment Management:</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain accurate records of lab inventory, including supplies, equipment, and consumables.</p> </li><li> <p>Oversee the ordering and receiving of materials, supplies, and equipment for the lab.</p> </li><li> <p>Track equipment usage, maintenance schedules, and repairs.</p> </li><li> <p>Administrative Support:</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with lab budget management and resource allocation.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepare and submit reports on lab activities, inventory, and maintenance status.</p> </li><li> <p>Support faculty and students in the scheduling and logistical arrangements for open labs, practical exams and clinical simulations.</p> </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Education:</p> </li><li> <p>Master's degree in nursing or a related field</p> </li><li> <p>LICENSES- PA-RN License required</p> </li><li> <p>Experience:</p> </li><li> <p>Prior experience working in a nursing lab or healthcare setting is strongly preferred.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience with simulation technology, lab equipment, and clinical skills preferred.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience in an academic or healthcare training environment is a plus.</p> </li><li> <p>Skills and Abilities:</p> </li><li> <p>Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.</p> </li><li> <p>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of nursing practices, procedures, and equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students.</p> </li><li> <p>Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and basic laboratory management software.</p> </li><li> <p>Other Requirements:</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to lift and carry materials and supplies, up to 25 pounds.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to stand for extended periods and move throughout the lab environment.</p> </li><li> <p>Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends, as necessary.</p> </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>This position offers the opportunity to contribute to the success of nursing students by providing critical hands-on learning experiences.
