The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position</p> <ul> <li>As a member of an evaluation team, writes measurable goals for IEP's to address social or emotional issues that are affecting a student's ability to access the general curriculum. </li><li>Implements individual and group counseling and treatment services to pupils and parents as required by the IEP process. </li><li>Conducts Functional Behavioral Assessment to aid in the development of a Behavior Intervention Plan for students who are experiencing difficulty meeting the behavioral expectations of the schools. </li><li>Provides teacher consultation as necessary. </li><li>Serves as a referral agent to obtain necessary aid from specialized public or private organizations. </li><li>Provides pupil data and written reports as requested. </li><li>Provides home assessment for Special Education evaluations as required. </li><li>Attends staff meetings as requested. </li><li>Supervises mental health-counseling interns as needed. </li><li>Works to create a school climate of caring and mutual respect for all individuals. </li><li>Works as a member of the school team that is available for crisis intervention to diffuse behavior problems. </li><li>Performs other program-related duties as assigned. </li><li>As per the Somerville Educators/Teachers Association, Unit A Collective Bargaining Agreement </li></ul> <p>Qualifications, Knowledge, Abilities, & Skills</p> <ul> <li>Appropriate Department of Elementary and Secondary Educator's license in the field or subject for this position </li><li>DESE SEI endorsement Required </li><li>Bilingual Educator Preferred </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <p>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the position's essential functions.</p> <ul> <li>Mobility: Frequent walking, standing, and navigating stairs. </li><li>Lifting/Strength: Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry objects ranging from 10 to 30 lbs (e.g., books, supplies, equipment). </li><li>Physical Dexterity: Bending, crouching, kneeling, stooping, and reaching to assist students. </li><li>Stationary Tasks: Remaining in a stationary position (sitting/standing) for long periods. </li></ul> <p>Reporting Relationships</p> <ul> <li>Position Reports to: The school building principal and Director of Special Education </li><li>Position Supervises: Not applicable </li></ul> <p>Terms of Employment</p> <p>Position Type: Temporary</p> <p>Employment Status: Full Time</p> <ul> <li>School Schedule: Monday - Friday </li><li>FLSA Classification: Exempt </li><li>Compensation: Salary and benefits are governed by the Somerville Educators Union (SEU) collective bargaining agreement.
