If you thrive on empowering others, have experience in both ongoing and intake, and love training, this is the position for you!</p> <p>Hiring Range: $75,000.00 - $82,000.00 annually</p> <p>Anticipated Hiring Rate: $78,929.76</p> <p>This is a child protection position; child protection includes engaging families. It is reasonable to anticipate the need for flexibility in work hours periodically to accommodate client schedules. The average workday hours are Monday-Friday 8:00am -5:00pm. Schedule is subject to change. Hybrid schedule available upon successful completion of probationary period; subject to change.</p> <p>Please be advised that this position may close without advanced notice, should we receive a sufficient number of qualified applications.</p> <p>Supervises an assigned unit of caseworkers and support staff in the Children, Youth, and Family Services (CYFS) Division of the El Paso County Department of Human Services (DHS) with the mission to preserve and rehabilitate families while protecting children. Oversees and coordinates the practice and primary decision-making of child protection practices and/or coordinates the services and secondary service decisions. Coordinates with units, teams, and leadership as related to safety, permanency, and well-being. May be assigned to the Practice or Support & Services unit.</p> <ul> <li>Supervises assigned caseworkers, case services aides, and administrative support staff, including conducting unit meetings, ensuring work is performed in a timely and accurate manner, and assigning duties as appropriate. Conducts performance evaluations and motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance; participates in the hiring and disciplinary process. </li><li>Communicates the mission of the unit; establishes and monitors the workflow of the unit and assigns applicable cases, assessments, services, and/or placement cases. </li><li>Conducts and participates in staffing and consultations with caseworkers; meets with appropriate staff to discuss cases, treatment plans, problems, and issues and to address performance. </li><li>Leads weekly unit meetings to discuss information; participates in DHS administrative meetings involving planning, decision-making, and management. Coordinates and facilitates staff training as needed. </li><li>Participates in case-related staffing, court hearings, reviews, meetings, and family meetings; decides and recommends appropriate case plans and proceedings, as assigned. </li><li>Ensures compliance with Federal, State, and County laws, outcome measures, rules, and regulations; reviews cases to ensure case plans are developed and implemented, as assigned. </li><li>Reviews, edits, and/or approves unit correspondence and reports. </li><li>Serves as a liaison to community professionals, clients, other agencies, the courts, and the public; responds to complaints and concerns. </li><li>Collects, reports, and monitors team statistics, data, outcomes, and performance; approves and routes some financial requests. </li><li>Performs other duties as required. </li></ul> <p>Supervision Exercised: This classification requires supervising and monitoring performance for a regular group of employees or unit(s) including providing input on hiring/disciplinary action and work objectives/ effectiveness, performance evaluations, and realigning work as needed. A first-line or second-line supervisor typically performs these tasks.</p> <p>Supervision Received: Receives administrative supervision. This classification typically performs job duties and resolves conflict according to their own judgment and initiatives, requesting supervisory assistance only when necessary. Special projects are managed with little oversight, and assignments may be reviewed upon completion. Performance reviewed periodically.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Working knowledge of child protection laws, rules, and regulations. </li><li>Working knowledge of intake and ongoing processes, procedures, and protocol. </li><li>Working knowledge of Department of Human Services programs and protocol. </li><li>Ability to efficiently plan, schedule, and organize. </li><li>Ability to provide guidance, supervise, and train others; ability to objectively review and evaluate the performance and work of others. </li><li>Ability to understand, interpret, and communicate laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures to staff. </li><li>Ability to assess situations and make prudent and appropriate decisions; ability to apply conflict resolution and problem-solving skills. </li><li>Ability to communicate and work effectively with co-workers, clients, other agencies, and the public. Ability to provide excellent customer service. </li><li>Ability to use standard office equipment, including computer, fax machine, copier, and telephone. Proficiency with personal computers, databases, and software, such as Microsoft Office. </li><li>Maintain regular and punctual attendance. </li></ul> <p>Required Education & Experience</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree or higher from a higher education institution with course work related to the job responsibilities of child welfare social caseworker as stated in Volume 7. Course work examples can include and are not limited to, the development of human behavior, child development, family intervention techniques, diagnostic measures, or therapeutic techniques. </li><li>Three years of professional, internship, or volunteer work experience in a human service-related agency. </li><li>Master's degree or higher in a social work or human behavioral sciences field; and, </li><li>Two years of professional, internship, or volunteer work experience in a human services related agency may substitute for the required experience. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Education & Experience</p> <ul> <li>One year of supervisory or demonstrated leadership experience. </li><li>Bilingual in both Spanish and English. </li><li>Experience working in protective services in both intake/investigations and ongoing/permanency. </li></ul> <p>Licenses/Certificates</p> <ul> <li>Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and proof of automobile insurance as stated within El Paso County's Personnel Policies Manual. </li><li>Must obtain and maintain necessary certifications as applicable to position. </li><li>Colorado State Child Welfare Supervisor Certification or the ability to successfully complete and pass initial examination within ninety days of enrollment. </li></ul> <p>Pre-Employment Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Must pass conditional post offer background investigation, including fingerprinting, motor vehicle check, and drug screen. College transcripts required prior to the date of hire. </li></ul> <p>Duties are primarily performed in an office environment with some travel for home visits, development of community resources, community events, and meetings. This position may require occasional lifting, such as files, supplies, children, and car seats. Hybrid remote work environment dependent upon Department discretion and business needs. May be exposed to hostile family situations/individuals and unsanitary and hazardous conditions. Reliable transportation is required as you will be utilizing your own registered and insured personal vehicle to transport clients as needed; mileage reimbursement is available upon request. This position may require a 24/7 on-call and after-hours rotational schedule; some evening or weekend work may be required.
